We’re finally out of eclipse season with this New Moon – and now that Mercury’s direct again, there’s a sense of moving forwards at long last.  I don’t know about you but I’ve certainly found the past month quite challenging on all technological fronts!

I have a workshop coming up: Secrets of Successful Relationships.  It’s aimed at Beginner/Foundation level,  and explores the astrological secrets of successful relationships – whether that’s with your partner, your kids or even your friends.  You’ll learn how to understand your loved ones better through Astrology.  You’ll also get to explore your own chart and how this works for you.  People often tell me this workshop has really opened their eyes and transformed their relationships!!  Click on this link for more info and to register.

For Advanced level students, registration is now open for Term 3’s classes:  Advanced Forecasting (Advanced 2) and Harmonics (Advanced 6).  These classes are live online – and yes they’re recorded if the time doesn’t suit you! There’s an early bird available now – click on the links for more info and to register.

*
.

The energies at the start of this lunar month are likely to be especially turbulent, with Mars, Jupiter and Pluto involved in a challenging T-square configuration between 17-24 May.  On top of that,  just before moving into Taurus on 17 May, Jupiter activated the degree of last month’s hybrid solar eclipse at 29 Aries, giving a huge boost of energy to anything that began at that eclipsed New Moon.  Think back to the New Moon intentions you set then and review their progress.  (Click on the links for more info on those)

This potent Jupiter-Pluto combination could mean tussles between the justice system and entrenched power – whether that’s the government or other shady power players. With Mars in the picture things could get volatile, possibly even violent.  The aspect certainly indicates fighting against the powers-that-be, or at least taking action in some way, such as protesting on the streets.

One image that comes to mind for me for this astrological combination is the possibility of legislation against gun violence – we’re seeing protesters demanding it on the streets of Belgrade in Serbia after two mass shootings there last week.  And it’s way overdue in the US, where guns are now the leading cause of death for young people, but the NRA and other entrenched power-players still hold plenty of sway in government decisions. It’s possible that Jupiter could now shift the energy in favour of the justice system.

In the midst of all this, we have a New Moon in Taurus on Sat 20 May.  The New Moon in Taurus represents an opportunity to begin a new cycle in our relationship with the physical world and with Mother Nature, a reminder of the extinction crisis underway, that the media (and governments) seem determined to ignore.

This is more urgent now than ever.  Uranus has been moving through Taurus for the last 5 years, waking up more and more people to the reality of the extinction crisis.  One of the potential outcomes for Jupiter now in Taurus is that legislation could be implemented to protect the planet and the fragile ecology of the environment.  This New Moon in Taurus extends an invitation for us to begin a new cycle in our relationship with the Earth and to act as her guardians.

Taurus is associated with security in its many forms – emotional, material and financial – and this need for security (or more accurately, the fear of lack of security) can give rise to the sign’s tendency towards possessiveness and material accumulation.  Use this lunar month to explore your own security needs and your relationship with abundance.  We may even see significant changes in the financial world – again Jupiter may well bring that in.  It’s an opportunity for us to begin a new cycle in our finances!

At a personal level, this New Moon is an excellent time for enjoying luxury and pampering our physical bodies, indulging in sensuous pleasure.  Taurus does love luxury!

If your birthday is close to this date, this New Moon marks the beginning of a significant new cycle in your life in relation to your identity, your sense of self and your purpose in the world.

If you have chart points at 28 Taurus, this New Moon signifies the start of a new cycle in whatever that planet represents (eg responsibility for Saturn).

The New Moon is exact at 1.53am Queensland time (AEST).  Remember to set your New Moon intentions in the following 24 hrs.

The New Moon on Thurs 20 April (AEST) is not only a hybrid solar eclipse, but also the second New Moon in Aries, falling at 29 degrees of that sign (last month’s New Moon was at zero degrees Aries).  If this were a Full Moon, we’d call it a Blue Moon, but here it’s a New Moon and an eclipsed one at that, which really ramps up the energy.  This solar eclipse is the first of the Aries-Libra eclipses that will be happening over the next couple of years.A hybrid solar eclipse is one which moves between being an annular eclipse and a total eclipse – both are forms of a total solar eclipse.  An annular eclipse is one where the Sun is not completely blacked out by the Moon but shows a ring of fire around the eclipse (annular from the Latin word for a ring).  The eclipse will be visible in Exmouth WA in the north-west part of Australia as a total solar eclipse – everywhere else in Australia will see it as a partial eclipse, getting less the further away you are from WA.   Here’s a great link from the ABC – with cool animations!

A total solar eclipse is an intensified form of a New Moon, and here we have the second New Moon in Aries, repeating the themes of last month but now far more intensified, as if the Universe really wants to make sure that we get the message!

This eclipsed New Moon in Aries brings a second opportunity for a bold and exciting new start.  Aries’ natural approach to life is to take action, breaking new ground in a pioneering or even crusading venture, or taking up a cause that’s worth fighting for.

As a Fire sign, Aries is full of enthusiasm and focused on the future.  Aries tends to act first and think later, hence its reputation for being impulsive, so take a moment to weigh your options before jumping in feet first!

Remember that eclipses bring change into our lives, often from left field, so be extra careful throughout this lunar month as we are in eclipse season the whole time.

If your birthday falls close to this date (within a day either side), this is the beginning of a highly significant new cycle in your life, particularly with regard to your sense of identity and purpose in life.

Wherever you have 29 degrees Aries in your chart, this is the area of your life that will be most affected by this eclipsed New Moon – for example, if it falls in your 10th house, this signifies the beginning of a significant new cycle in your career or professional life.

The New Moon is exact at 2.12pm AEST (for the Virgos among you, the eclipse is exact at 2.17pm AEST).  Your New Moon resolutions will be especially powerful with the effect of this eclipse.  Remember to set them in the following 24 hrs.

The New Moon in Pisces on Mon 20 Feb brings the opportunity for a renewed focus on spirituality and the desire to transcend our 3D reality.  Pisces has a strong sense of divine homesickness, a spiritual longing to return to source and merge into oneness.  This New Moon is a great time to begin a new cycle of spiritual practices!

Pisces is also associated with imagination and creativity.  This is an excellent time to begin a new cycle of creative pursuits, such as art, photography or music, essentially anything that takes you into that right-brain space of timelessness!

Pisces is also highly idealistic, bringing more compassion into the world.  However its downside is illusion and deception, making us prone to being deceived (and deceiving ourselves!).  Be careful of falling under some kind of glamour (spell) under the influence of this New Moon, seeing the world through rose-coloured glasses!

This New Moon is a great opportunity to begin a new cycle with regard to any escapist tendencies that you’re aware of, including any form of addiction. The Piscean urge to transcend reality can express negatively as escapism which in its most extreme forms can develop into addictive patterns of behaviour.  This is a great opportunity to focus on transforming these into more creative or spiritual pursuits.

Wherever you have 1 degree of Pisces in your chart is the area of your life that will be affected by this New Moon – for example, if it falls in your 10th house, this signifies the beginning of a new cycle in your career or professional life.

If your birthday falls close to this date (within a day either side), this is the beginning of an important new cycle for you, especially with regard to your sense of identity and your purpose in life.

The New Moon is exact at 5.05pm Queensland time (AEST).  Remember to set your New Moon intentions within 24 hours of the New Moon.

New Moon in Aquarius marks Chinese New Year 2023

New Moon in Aquarius marks Chinese New Year

Full Moon in Leo   Mon 6 Feb 2023 at 4.28am AEST at 16 Leo

Skywatching    Venus can be seen as the Evening Star, close to Saturn at the New Moon, then gradually becoming brighter and higher in the evening sky over the next few months.
Jupiter and Mars (the red planet) are also clearly visible in the night sky.
Mercury can now be seen as a Morning Star, low in the sky before sunrise, brightest around 30 Jan.

*
.
At last we have a sense of forward movement now that Mars and Mercury have gone direct, a welcome relief after all the frustrations of the past few months – in fact once Uranus turns direct the day after this New Moon, all of the main planets will be in direct motion!
.

The New Moon in Aquarius on Sun 22 Jan is an opportunity to begin a new cycle in authenticity.  To what extent are you really being true to yourself?  Do you feel free to be true to yourself?  Aquarius is a sign associated with freedom, authenticity, and equality at both the individual and collective level.  It is strongly non-conformist, needing to be different and unique, free of society’s expectations, a natural rebel (I can hear all the Aquarians cheering!!!)  It is also focused on social responsibility, connection at the level of mass consciousness and global humanitarian concerns.

Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius, is stationing at the time of this New Moon (see below) so there is a double dose of Uranian energy, an added impetus with this New Moon to break free of any restrictions – anything that’s holding you back – and be really true to yourself.   Also, with Uranus close to the North Node, there’s an invitation to wake up to your spiritual path and life purpose.  This New Moon is aligned with Pluto which provides an invitation to step more fully into your personal power. It’s a powerful combination!

Aquarius is an air sign, loving to debate ideas, the more original, inventive and zany the better. Aquarians are very sociable and tend to be known as the party animals of the zodiac!

The New Moon is exact at 6.53am Queensland time (AEST) at one degree of Aquarius.  Remember to set your New Moon intentions within 24 hours of the New Moon.

If your birthday is close to this date (within a day either side), this is the beginning of an important new cycle in your life in terms of your sense of identity and your purpose in the world.

Wherever you have one degree of Aquarius in your birth chart, this indicates the area of life that will be most affected by this New Moon – for example, if this New Moon falls in your 10th house, this signifies the beginning of a new cycle in your career or professional life.

This New Moon marks Chinese New Year.  Like many traditional cultures, the Chinese New Year is based on the lunar calendar.  This New Moon brings the beginning of the Chinese Lunar Year of the Rabbit.

*
.
Uranus goes direct on Mon 23 Jan 2023 at 14 degrees Taurus.  Uranus is the Great Awakener, shaking up any sense we have of security or permanence (and how!).  Uranus takes us into unexplored territory, and as it turns direct again for the next 7 months, that’s where we’re heading.  Uranus brings new insights and a higher level of awareness, and accompanying changes, yet it can also be disruptive, shaking things to their very foundation – sometimes even bringing down the whole structure in the urge to bring about revolutionary change.  In the words of Leonard Cohen “there is a crack, a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in”.  The more conscious we can be, and the more open we are to the changes that the Universe is demanding of us, the less disruptive this energy is likely to be.  If your birthday is around 5 May (within a day either side), you’re likely to be feeling this energy very strongly!

Make your New Year’s resolutions early! New Moon in Capricorn 2022

Make your New Year resolutions early this year!

CapricornNew Moon in Capricorn 2022

New Moon in Capricorn   Fri 23 Dec 2022 at 8.17pm AEST at 1 Capricorn

Full Moon in Cancer    Sat 7 Jan 2023 at 9.07am AEST at 16 Cancer

Skywatching:   Mercury is visible now in the west just after sunset, but by Full Moon it will have disappeared from view as it embarks on its retrograde journey.  By the end of December Venus will have reappeared as a faint evening star, visible below Saturn, and she will gradually become brighter and higher in the evening sky as the Evening Star as she returns towards Earth over the coming months.  Jupiter and Mars (the red planet) are also clearly visible in the night sky.

The solstice is almost upon us (follow the link for more info) – let me take this opportunity to wish you a very happy midsummer or midwinter, wherever you are!

We have a Mercury retro coming up that will take place entirely in this lunar month – you may already have noticed a few glitches in your life from the retro shadow that we’re already in!  So back up your computers and files now!

We’ve had a couple of months so far of Mars retro and it’s tough going, like wading through treacle sometimes. In the second half of Jan both Mars and Mercury will turn direct, so there will be a sense of things moving forwards much more easily from then onwards.  Remember the keyword of Mars retro is patience!

Congratulations to my students Radhika Evans and Alison Leahy who’ve recently passed their FAA Dynamic Interpretation exam and are well on the way to becoming professionally qualified.  I’m so happy for you both!

If you’d like to study Astrology with me – make this your 2023 resolution! – I have Advanced modules starting with Astro*Mapping in Feb, and Foundation and Intermediate courses online on my Stargazer Astrology Academy.  I guarantee that the study of Astrology will transform your life!  If you have any questions at all, just contact me direct.

The New Moon falls in Capricorn on Fri 23 Dec at 1 degree Capricorn.  This is the absolute best time to make your New Year’s resolutions for 2023 as the energy of this New Moon gives you the self-discipline and determination to carry out the incremental steps you need to take during the year to achieve your goals.

A New Moon always represents the beginning of a new cycle in some part of your life.  The Capricorn New Moon invites renewed focus on self-discipline, goal-setting, improving time management and introducing more structure into your life – all in the service of moving forwards on your chosen path.  Remember the image of Capricorn the goat, climbing slowly but steadily up the mountain, one step at a time, guaranteed to reach the summit.

Capricorn is an Earth sign, grounded, sensible and practical – excellent at dealing with material reality.  The sign is ruled by Saturn, the ultimate taskmaster who sets firm boundaries, exercises self-authority and very cautious. The downside  of Capricorn (every sign has its downside) is the tendency for caution to become fear, leading in some cases to freezing (‘petrified’ means turned to stone) so that no action is taken. Saturn can also be a fierce inner critic, sowing self-doubt that can stifle those Capricorn ambitions. Caution is fine, yet make sure you continue to move forwards.  It’s time now to accept full personal responsibility for your life, and to realise that YOU are the only one who can make the necessary changes for your life to move in the direction you want.

Wherever you have Capricorn in your chart is the area of life that will be most strongly affected by this New Moon – for example, if it is in your 6th house, this is an opportunity to bring more self-discipline into your daily routine and health regime; if it falls in the 2nd, this will apply to your finances.  If you are not sure where Capricorn falls in your birth chart, think of the area of your life that could most benefit from some self-discipline right now – you’ll probably tune into it intuitively!

If your birthday falls close to this New Moon (within a day either side), this is the beginning of a significant new cycle in your life in terms of your sense of identity and purpose in the world.

If you have one degree Capricorn strong in your chart, or if any of your planets fall at this degree, a significant new cycle is starting in the part of your life represented by that planet, such as relationships for Venus.

Remember to create your New Moon intentions (and your Resolutions for 2023!!!) within 24 hours of this New Moon. The New Moon is exact at 8.16pm Queensland time (AEST).

December Lunar Phases & Moon Planting Guide ☘️🍃🎋

.

Have you been feeling exhausted and unfocused? Mars retro in Gemini is squaring off with Neptune in Pisces, especially in this week leading up to the New Moon.  It could well be triggering placements in your chart.  The key is to integrate and transform this energies  – see below.  The really good news?  The eclipse season is finally over with this New Moon!

.

The New Moon in Sagittarius on Thurs 24 Nov 2022 is an opportunity to begin a new cycle in your life that’s adventurous, enthusiastically exploring new frontiers, feeling the need to enjoy life to the full.  This is a perfect time to start on a spiritual quest, a course of study or overseas travel – anything that expands your horizons. The travel can of course be internal – a spiritual journey, to the truth of who you are.
 .
Sagittarius is a Fire sign, warm and enthusiastic, naturally optimistic and with an undying trust in the Universe.  Sagittarians love to explore and go on adventures, not just for the fun of it, but because they’re also motivated by a quest to discover the Meaning of Life.
.
Their sign is ruled by Jupiter, stationing direct at this New Moon and in a supportive aspect to the New Moon, which increases the trademark Sagittarian boundless enthusiasm and confidence.  On the downside (every sign has its downside), Sagittarians can have a tendency to go over the top, take lots of risks through being over-confident, and can over-extend themselves, not knowing when or where to stop.
 .
Find where this New Moon falls in your chart at 1 degree Sagittarius and tune into the new departure that could be starting for you now.  The house placement will show you which part of your life is most affected.
.
If you have a planet at 1 degree of Sagittarius, this marks the beginning of a new cycle in whatever that planet symbolises (eg relationships for Venus).
.
If your birthday is close to this New Moon (within a day either side), this marks the beginning of a significant new cycle in your life in terms of your identity and your sense of purpose.
.
Set your New Moon intentions within 24 hours of the New Moon, exact at 8.57am AEST (Queensland time).

On the very same day as the New Moon, Jupiter goes direct at 28 degrees Pisces, indicating that the restraint and apparent lack of progress of recent months should now be resolved (although the current Mars-Neptune square is complicating things).  Renewed hope and optimism should begin to emerge now – however things may not progress as quickly as you’d like, because we’re still under the influence of Mars retro.  As Jupiter turns direct, reviews of injustice and other legal matters that have been ongoing for a while are likely to be brought to resolution.

At a personal level, if you have been questioning your beliefs or dealing with issues of faith or trust over the last four months, Jupiter’s direct motion is likely to bring resolution and more clarity.

Jupiter returns to Aries on 21 Dec.

New Moon in Libra 2022

New Moon in Libra 2022

New Moon in Libra   Mon 26 Sept 2022 at 7.54am Queensland time (AEST) at 2 Libra

Full Moon in Aries   Mon 10 Oct 2022 at 6.54am Queensland time (AEST) at 16 Aries

.Skywatching   Mercury can be seen as a bright Morning Star around 8 Oct.  Saturn and Jupiter are visible after sunset in the eastern sky.

.

Things are starting to heat up. The eclipses are coming, starting at the end of October, bringing unexpected changes into our lives from this coming Full Moon onwards.  We enter the six-week eclipse season at this Full Moon.  Pluto and Saturn both turn direct this month, intensifying their energy during their stationary periods. Meanwhile Mars is starting to slow down, ready for his retro journey at the end of Oct.   The good news?  We have a new Venus Star Point forming on 23 Oct (AEST), in its home sign of Libra.

If you’re interested in the Asteroids and the newly-discovered dwarf planets, I have a new course coming up soon Astro*Goddesses where we’ll examine all the different faces of these feminine archetypes.  More info and registration

*

The New Moon falls in Libra on Mon 26 Sept bringing the opportunity to start a new cycle in your relationships and connections with others.

Libra is the sign of the born diplomat, the mediator who can always see both sides of any issue and wants the result to be harmonious. The symbol for Libra after all is the scales, where things can be weighed and balanced.

This New Moon in Libra is a good time to focus on restoring balance in your life, consolidating the theme of the Equinox last month, by implementing whatever changes are required to bring your life back into balance and harmony.

Libra is an Air sign, sociable and communicative, with a huge need for fairness.  It’s also one of the leadership signs, but its point of difference is that it doesn’t need to be out front – quite the contrary. The leadership style of Libra is inclusive and co-operative, making Libra an excellent leader.  The challenge however for Libra is decision-making!  They are so good at seeing all sides of the question that reaching a final decision can be agony for them, especially when they’re trying to keep everyone happy.  Because they hate disharmony, people-pleasing is often one of their main issues, not helped by their reluctance to confront and tackle any problem areas.  Embracing more of the assertiveness of their opposite sign Aries can be really helpful.

This New Moon is opposite Jupiter, suggesting that questions of abundance (do I have enough?) and trust (am I supported by the Universe?) are likely to come up in this lunar month.  This is an opportunity for you to actively integrate a sense of trusting the Universe, and a sense of having abundance in your life if you don’t yet experience this.  A gratitude practice can really help, where each morning you focus on all the things you’re grateful for in your life.

If your birthday is close to this New Moon, this marks the beginning of a significant new cycle in your life in terms of your identity and your sense of purpose.

If you have planets at 2 degrees of Libra, this marks the beginning of a new cycle in whatever that planet symbolises (eg responsibility for Saturn).

Remember to set your New Moon intentions within 24 hours of this New Moon. The New Moon is exact at 7.54am Queensland time (AEST) at 2 degrees Libra.

New Moon in Cancer 2022

Supermoon Full Moon in Capricorn   Thurs 14 July 2022 at 4.37am Queensland time (AEST) at 21 Capricorn

Skywatching    Saturn is visible late evening.  By early  morning before sunrise, five planets are visible – Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Venus, and Mercury low on the eastern horizon.  If you catch the end of the Moon cycle, you’ll see the dying Crescent Moon there too.

.
July Lunar Phases & Moon Planting Guide ☘️🍃🎋

.

The New Moon in Cancer on Wed 29 June represents the opportunity for a new cycle to begin in relation to the feminine. Cancer is ruled by the Moon, symbolising women, mothering and the sacred feminine. This New Moon represents the beginning of a new cycle in the way we care for others, the way we nurture ourselves, and our relationship with women in general.

Cancer is a water sign, sensitive and emotional, with a strong need for emotional security. This is the sign associated with home and family, so this New Moon can also mark the beginning of a new sense of belonging, perhaps a new phase in our home and family life, or our sense of belonging to a ‘tribe’.

Cancer has a tenacious connection to the past – Cancerians don’t like to let go of anything! The New Moon in Cancer represents the beginning of a new phase in our relationship with the past, an opportunity to emotionally release whatever no longer serves us. The Australian Bush Flower Essence Bottlebrush is particularly good for supporting you to let go.

If your birthday falls close to the date of this New Moon, this marks an important year of new beginnings in your life, particularly with regard to your identity, your sense of self and your purpose in life.

If you have a planet close to 7 degrees Cancer (within a degree either side), a new cycle is starting in whatever that planet symbolises (eg relationships for Venus).

Remember to set your intentions for this lunar month within 24 hours of the New Moon. The New Moon is exact at 12.52pm AEST.

Eclipse season – take extra care! Longest ‘Blood Moon’ this century!!!

partial solar eclipse

Can you feel the intensity of the energies right now??!!!

We’re at the start of the eclipse season, and it’s particularly intense because this is an extended eclipse season.  Instead of the usual two eclipses – one solar, one lunar, we’ve got three:  TWO solar and one lunar, and the lunar eclipse just happens to be the longest total lunar eclipse anyone will experience this century!!!

Eclipses bring unexpected changes into people’s lives, so take extra care at this time, especially when driving for example.  Don’t take any risks.

Here’s the information on the eclipses for the next lunar month:

Cancer is ruled by the Moon, symbolising women, mothering and the sacred feminine. Blood Moon, total lunar eclipse

The Total Lunar Eclipse “Blood Moon” on Sat 28 July is the longest total lunar eclipse this century! The total phase of the lunar eclipse will last almost an hour and three-quarters, and the whole eclipse will unfold over nearly 4 hours. It’ll be visible in Australia – if you’re prepared to get up really early, well before dawn!

Lunar eclipse starts at 3.14am Queensland time AEST,

  • partial eclipse starts at 4.24am,
  • full total eclipse (Blood Moon) starts 5.30am,
  • max eclipse is at 6.21am,
  • eclipse ends at 6.35am in Queensland because the Moon sets (it’ll keep going for longer further west).
  • There’s a great graphic/video and info at https://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/in/australia/brisbane

The Total Lunar Eclipse is the Full Moon in Aquarius on Sat 28 July 2018 (Fri 27 July in Europe and the Americas) which highlights the importance of establishing a balance between the needs of the collective and the needs of the individual. It may bring new and experimental ideas into sharp focus. Full Moons often bring situations to a head, and the eclipse intensifies this energy, so be prepared for humanitarian issues (such as refugees) to reach some kind of crisis point, where resolution becomes imperative. Total lunar eclipses are also often associated with earth changes such as earthquakes and volcanos, so expect to see more of these in the news at this time. The eclipsed Full Moon falls at 4 degrees of Aquarius and is exact at 6.20am AEST, so the best time for ceremony and celebrations is the previous night, Fri 27 July.
