Total Lunar Eclipse, Blood Moon: Supermoon Full Moon in Leo

Blood Moon, total lunar eclipse

Blood Moon, total lunar eclipse

The Full Moon in Leo on Mon 21 Jan is a total lunar eclipse It’s also the first in a sequence of three SuperMoons, where the Moon is closer to the Earth than usual,  intensifying the energies and in particular heightening our emotional responses.  SuperMoons are associated with extreme weather patterns, and total lunar eclipses are associated with earthquakes and earth changes, so this is likely to be a formidable combination! If you have chart points at zero degrees Leo, you’re likely to be strongly affected by this eclipse, so be extra careful at this time. Eclipses bring sudden, unexpected changes, not necessarily negative but it pays to be careful during the eclipse period, and the energies right now are extra strong because of the SuperMoon.  The Full Moon in Leo also highlights the need for a balance between the personal and the collective. The Full Moon in Leo is usually a fun party time, but the party may literally be eclipsed in some way, so take extra care at this time.

This is the last of the Leo-Aquarius eclipses that have been occurring over the past 18 months, as the eclipses are now moving into Cancer-Capricorn.  Interesting when we look back to the first of these eclipses in the royal sign of Leo, Prince Harry had just announced his engagement to Meghan Markle, and now of course, at the end of this cycle, they’ve married and are now expecting their first child.  An African-American divorcee marrying into the British royal family is certainly the kind of “unexpected changes” you could associate with eclipses through Leo, to say nothing of the passionate sermon preached at their wedding by Bishop Michael Curry!!

This lunar eclipse will be visible in North and South America, even the UK, basically anywhere that’s in night-time.  It’s exact at 3.12pm AEST (Queensland time) so won’t be visible in Australia.  Lunar eclipses take a few hours to unfold, so if you’re somewhere where you can see it, it’ll appear first as a partial eclipse, then move into the deep red colour of the full Blood Moon for just over an hour, and of course, as a SuperMoon, the Moon will appear much larger and brighter in the sky than usual.  If you’re celebrating the Full Moon in Australia, the best time for ceremony will be the previous evening Sun 20 Jan while the energies are still building.  Remember my usual warning around eclipses and be extra careful during this period!

Full Moon on the Solstice!!!

EquinoxSolstice

The Full Moon falls with the Solstice this year, and we enter the eclipse season for the upcoming eclipses in January.

The Summer Solstice is the longest day of the year (and the shortest night) in the southern hemisphere, when the Sun reaches its southernmost position overhead at the Tropic of Capricorn, named after the Sun’s passage into the zodiac sign of Capricorn on this day.  This is the traditional mid-season time of celebration and feasting.  In the northern hemisphere it is of course the Winter Solstice, the shortest day and the longest night.  This year the solstice falls on Sat 22 Dec at 8.23am Queensland time AEST (Fri 21 Dec in Europe and the Americas).

The Full Moon falls in Cancer in the early hours of Sun 23 Dec AEST (Sat 22 Dec in Europe and the Americas) just after the Solstice.  The Full Moon in Cancer invites us to find a balance between the deep emotional connection of family and the outer, worldly achievement that is found in our work life. This Full Moon also highlights our emotional attachment to the past, so don’t be surprised if strong feelings get stirred up again, giving us the opportunity to finally let go and release the past.  This is a good time for us to reassess our unconscious, “autopilot” responses, and to change any behaviour that is no longer appropriate.  The Full Moon is exact at 3.49am AEST, so Sat 22 Dec is the best night for Full Moon celebrations – as well as solstice celebrations!!!

The eclipse season starts now, after this month’s Full Moon.  The eclipses won’t be till January, but meanwhile take extra care from the Full Moon onwards as the energies start to build.  This means that Christmas time will be in the eclipse season, so please be extra careful on the roads and in your lives generally.  Remember eclipses demand respect, as they often bring unexpected change into our lives!  So take extra care this Christmas period!!

Adventure Time!

Sagittarius, the archer

New Moon in Sagittarius  Fri 7 Dec 2018, exact at 5.20pm Queensland time (AEST) at 15 degrees Sagittarius

Full Moon in Cancer  Sun 23 Dec 2018, exact at 3.49am Queensland time (AEST) at 0 degrees Cancer

Skywatching  Venus can be seen as the Morning Star twinkling brightly in the east before sunrise, and lower in the sky, Mercury and Jupiter are also visible.  In the evening, after sunset, reddish Mars is overhead, with Saturn bright in the west, progressively lower in the sky as the month advances until it is no longer visible.

Adventure Time!

The New Moon falls in Sagittarius on Fri 7 Dec, bringing a fresh burst of enthusiasm for adventure and exploration, as well as the need to enjoy life to the full.  This is a good time to start on a spiritual quest, a study course or overseas travel – anything that expands your horizons.

Sagittarius is a Fire sign, warm and enthusiastic, naturally optimistic with an undying trust in the Universe.  Sagittarians love to explore and go on adventures.  Their sign is ruled by Jupiter, which gives them their boundless enthusiasm – and on the down side, a tendency to go over the top, take lots of risks and over-extend themselves, not knowing when or where to stop.

If your birthday is close to this New Moon, this marks the beginning of a significant new cycle in your life in terms of your identity and your sense of purpose.

If you have a planet at 15 degrees of Sagittarius this marks the beginning of a new cycle in whatever that planet symbolizes (eg relationships for Venus).

Remember to create your New Moon intentions within 24 hours of the New Moon.  The New Moon is exact at 5.20pm AEST.

Full Moon in Gemini as Neptune stations

The Full Moon in Gemini on Fri 23 Nov invites us to find a balance between logic and intuitive knowing, so that any action we take integrates both polarities, aware of relevant information yet trusting our intuition.  With Jupiter part of the signature of this Full Moon, the Universe is sending us a strong invitation to trust, both in ourselves and in the Universe.  Check your birth chart to see which house is under the Full Moon spotlight at zero degrees Gemini as this is the area of life where matters may well come to fruition or be revealed.  This Full Moon is exact at 3.39pm Queensland time (AEST).

Neptune turns direct on Sun 25 Nov 2018 allowing us to move forwards again after a five-month period of self-reflection in which we have revisited and maybe revised our dreams and visions for the future.  We may also have revisited our spiritual longing, our urge to transcend 3D reality.  As Neptune also symbolises veils of illusion, we may have become more aware of the ways in which we manage to deceive ourselves, only seeing what we want to see or believing what we want to believe.  The cosmic opportunity now is for our vision to be clearer and more connected with Spirit.

Neptune stations at 13 degrees Pisces, and hangs around at that degree for almost 2 months before it moves forwards again, so if you have this point strong in your birth chart, or if you’re born around 4 March, you’ll be feeling a strong urge to transcend reality and dissolve into a state of spiritual oneness.  For some of you, this will be felt as a complete brain meltdown, especially if you’re trying to maintain a left-brain existence. The key is to surrender to the inspiration and creativity of Neptune, indulge in art or music, and engage in spiritual practices like meditation so that you transcend reality, rather than get drawn into the negative side of Neptune, escapist patterns such as addictive behaviours.

Full Moon with Uranus – Surprise twists and revelations!!!

This is going to be a very interesting Full Moon.  Full Moons bring illumination at the best of times, but now with Uranus part of the planetary picture, expect matters to come to a head with surprise twists as things get revealed that may be shocking and disruptive!

The Full Moon falls in Taurus in the early hours of Thurs 25 Oct AEST (effectively the evening of Wed 24 Oct).  The Full Moon in Taurus brings into focus your ability to be sensuous and grounded, an excellent time to indulge the senses and pamper the body.  This Full Moon invites us to find a balance between physical sensuality and emotional depth.

Uranus joins with this Full Moon to bring something unexpected, exciting or stimulating.  The purpose of Uranus is to bring a higher level of awareness into our lives, waking us up from our normal routine and habits.  Equally (sometimes at the same time!), Uranus can bring disruption, even chaos, as it shakes things up in its attempt to bring in more light.  Uranus is known as the Great Awakener, and that’s what it does, one way or the other!  All you can say for certain with Uranus is ‘Expect the Unexpected’

The Full Moon falls at 1 degree Taurus, so wherever this point falls in your chart is the area of your life that will be under the spotlight now, bringing matters to a head or to resolution, probably with a surprise twist!  There are likely to be some very interesting revelations around at this time (think of the Khashoggi case for example).  The Full Moon is exact at 2.45am AEST (Queensland time) so the best time to celebrate will be the previous night when the energies are still building.

New Moon in Libra 2018

Libra, the scales of balance

New Moon in Libra  Tues 9 Oct 2018, exact at 1.47pm Queensland time (AEST) at 15 degrees Libra

Full Moon in Taurus  Thurs 25 Oct 2018, exact at 2.45am Queensland time (AEST) at 1 degree Taurus (effectively the evening of Wed 24 Oct)

Skywatching:   Venus will continue to be visible as the Evening Star, twinkling brightly in the west, till about mid-Oct, appearing gradually lower in the evening sky until she is no longer visible.  She disappears for 7 days and then reappears as the Morning Starfrom the end of Oct.  Jupiter is above Venus in the west, with Saturn and reddish Mars overhead at sunset.

The New Moon falls in Libra on Tues 9 Oct, starting a new cycle in your relationships and connecting with others generally.  It also brings a renewed emphasis on the need for harmony and fairness in all aspects of your life.  Libra is the sign of the born diplomat, the mediator who can always see both sides of any issue.  The symbol for Libra is the scales, where things can be weighed and balanced.  With the New Moon in Libra, this lunar month is a good time to focus on restoring balance in your life, giving you the opportunity to consolidate the theme of the Equinox last month (see last month’s newsletter) by implementing whatever changes are required to bring your life back into harmony and balance.

Libra is an Air signsociable and communicative, with a huge need for fairness.  It’s also one of the leadership signs, but it doesn’t need to be out in front – quite the contrary. The leadership style of Libra is inclusive and co-operative, making Libra an excellent consultative leader.  The challenge for Libra is decision-making!  They are so good at seeing all sides of the question that reaching a final decision can be agony for them, especially when they’re trying to keep everyone happy.  Because they hate disharmony, people-pleasing is often one of their main issues, not helped by their reluctance to confront and tackle any problem areas.  Embracing more of the assertiveness of their opposite sign Aries can be really helpful.

If your birthday is close to this New Moon, this marks the beginning of a significant new cycle in your life in terms of your identity and your sense of purpose.

If you have a planet at 15 degrees of Libra (within a degree either side), this marks the beginning of a new cycle in whatever that planet symbolises (eg responsibility for Saturn).

Remember to set your New Moon intentions within 24 hours of the New Moon. The New Moon is exact at 1.47pm Queensland time (AEST).

Old friends and lovers reappear … Venus goes retro ❤️

Venus Rx lovers reconnectOld friends and lovers reappear …

… echoes of 8 years ago

Venus goes retrograde on Sat 6 Oct 2018 (AEST, Fri 5 Oct in Europe & the Americas) at 10 degrees Scorpio.  Venus signifies our urge to relate to others, so don’t be surprised if old friends and lovers reappear in your life during the retrograde phase of Venus – you may hear from people you haven’t seen for ages.  Or you may be the one seeking to reconnect.  Venus retrograde often brings an opportunity to revisit past relationships, especially if there is any unfinished business there.

Venus retrograde moves through 8-year cycles, so think back to what was happening for you eight years ago (Oct/Nov 2010) when Venus last went retrograde in Scorpio & Libra, for insight into what the themes might be for you this time round.  Venus is retrograde for six weeks until Fri 16 Nov when she turns direct again at 25 degrees Libra.  If you have Taurus or Libra prominent in your chart (especially as your rising sign), Venus retrograde cycles are likely to have a strong impact on you.

Venus will continue to be visible as the Evening Star for a couple of weeks after she turns retrograde, but will be seen gradually lower in the evening sky until she is no longer visible (as she gets closer and closer to the Sun).  With this retrograde conjunction to the Sun, Venus disappears for seven days, after which time she emerges transformed as the Morning Star, and a whole new 584-day cycle begins (a cycle sacred to the Mayans).  In ancient times Venus was seen as a dual goddess – the Evening Star was her peaceful aspect, whereas the Morning Star was her warrior incarnation; the rebirth of the Morning Star was seen as an auspicious time to go into battle.  Venus will reappear as the Morning Star from the end of Oct.

Equinox

EquinoxThe Equinox falls on Sun 23 Sept at 11.54am AEST.

The theme of the Equinox is always about balance.  This is the time of year when day and night are of equal length (equi-nox means ‘equal night’ in Latin), the Sun rises due east, and the seasons come to a point of balance.

This Equinox is marked by the Sun moving into the zodiac sign of Libra, the sign associated with harmony, balance and fairness.

In the Southern hemisphere this is the Spring Equinox, a time of rejoicing that winter is over and celebrating the birth of new life. With the Virgo New Moon, this is an excellent time for a Spring Cleanse!

The seasons are reversed in the Northern hemisphere of course, where this is the Autumn Equinox, a time of harvest celebration, giving thanks for the abundant crops produced by the summer months.

Whether you are celebrating Spring or Autumn Equinox, this is a perfect time to reflect on your own life, explore what might be out of balance there and find a way to restore that, whether it’s in your relationships, your work or any other aspect of your life.
