Third SuperMoon Full Moon – just before Easter

The Full Moon falls in Libra this lunar month, the third SuperMoon in the consecutive sequence of four SuperMoons this year, intensifying the energies and heightening our emotional responses at these Full Moons – these Supermoons are no doubt increasing people’s panic response to the COVID-19 situation too.

SuperMoons are associated with extreme weather patterns, like the storms and flooding we had with the last two SuperMoons, so it doesn’t look like the extreme nature of weather events is likely to go away anytime soon.

In a SuperMoon, the Moon is closer to the Earth than usual, so the Full Moon appears larger in the sky, causing tides to be higher, and intensifying all the things you normally associate with a Full Moon, such as feelings running high.

Full Moons tend to bring situations to a head, and this is intensified by the SuperMoon – heads up police, emergency services and hospital workers!

The SuperMoon Full Moon in Libra gives us an opportunity to bring our lives into balance, the cosmic invitation extended by the Equinox last month.  It highlights our need to relate to others, yet it also emphasizes the need to find a balance between the needs of the self and the needs of the other, between the need for independence and the need for compromise.  These needs are of course intensified by the SuperMoon.  This Supermoon Full Moon in Libra strongly reinforces the theme of the Equinox, the need to find balance in our lives.

The Full Moon falls at 18 degrees Libra, so check the houses of your chart to see which part of your life is under the spotlight. The Full Moon is exact at 12.34pm Queensland time (AEST) on Wed 8 April 2020.  If you’re planning Full Moon ceremony, the best time will be the previous evening while the energies are still building.

Easter Sunday this year falls on 12 April.  ‘What’s this got to do with Astrology?’ I hear you ask … Well, not many people realize but the date of Easter is determined astrologically, by the Moon and the Equinox.  Easter Sunday is set as the first Sunday after the first Full Moon following the Equinox.  This is why the date of Easter changes each year, sometimes falling at the end of March and sometimes much later in April.  Astrology is present in our everyday lives much more than most people realize!

Stay safe and well!
