Lots going on this lunar month with Venus turning retrograde on 23 July and another powerful Supermoon Full Moon on 2 Aug.  We’ve also got the Moon’s nodes changing signs into Aries-Libra which brings about a significant shift in our collective spiritual alignment.

The New Moon in Cancer on Tues 18 July presents the opportunity for a new cycle to begin in relation to the feminine.  Cancer is ruled by the Moon, symbolising women, mothering and the sacred feminine. It is also closely connected with nurturing and this New Moon can start a new cycle in the way we care for others, the way we nurture ourselves, as well as our relationship with women in general.

Complicating the energy of this New Moon is the tight configuration it forms with Eris and Pluto, indicating the possibility of power struggles and unrest playing out, particularly around themes of rejection and exclusion which can apply to so many sectors of society, such as refugees as just one example. It’s possible there will be some kind of confrontation with the authorities that ignites the unrest (think of the protests in France!).  With a New Moon, the potential is for a new cycle to start in this whole area – let’s hope that with a Cancer Moon, it’s one that brings more compassion into the picture.  This configuration increases in intensity over the following days, as the Moon’s nodes join the pattern (see more below).

Cancer is a water sign, sensitive and emotional, with a strong need for emotional security. This is the sign associated with home and family, so at a personal level this New Moon can mark the beginning of a new sense of belonging, perhaps a new phase in our home and family life, or our sense of belonging to a ‘tribe’.

BottlebrushCancer has a tenacious connection to the past – Cancerians don’t like to let go of anything!  The New Moon in Cancer represents the beginning of a new phase in our relationship with the past, an opportunity to emotionally release whatever no longer serves us.  The Australian Bush Flower Essence Bottlebrush is particularly good for supporting you to let go.

If your birthday falls close to the date of this New Moon, this marks an important year of new beginnings in your life, particularly with regard to your identity, your sense of self and your purpose in life.
If you have a planet close to 24 degrees Cancer (within a degree either side), a new cycle is starting in whatever that planet symbolises (eg relationships for Venus).

Remember to set your intentions for this lunar month within 24 hours of the New Moon.  The New Moon is exact at 4.31am Queensland time (AEST).

The same day, very soon after the New Moon on 18 July, the Moon’s North node moves from Taurus back into Aries, marking a significant shift in our collective spiritual alignment.   Read more ….
