Neptune turns retrograde 2022

Neptune turns retrograde

.

Neptune

Neptune slows to a standstill ready to turn retrograde on 28 June at 25 degrees Pisces, softening boundaries and looking for solutions that are all-inclusive, reminding us that we all belong to one humanity.

For the next five months, we have the opportunity to revisit the dreams and visions of the past seven months, and to integrate the inspirational and visionary energy of Neptune more fully into our lives.

At the other end of the Neptunian spectrum, we also have the opportunity to review the ways in which illusion, self-deception and escapism (possibly even addictive patterns of behaviour) play out in our lives, and to turn this around so we can connect more fully with the spiritual longing of Neptune.

If your birthday is around 16 March, you’ll feel this dreamy Neptunian energy very strongly.  Use it wisely by channelling it into creativity, art, music, meditation, anything that activates your right-brain – otherwise, if you try to keep to left-brain activities like doing your accounts, you’ll experience it as brain meltdown!  The Universe is inviting you to get creative during this time.

Neptune is retrograde until 4 Dec 2022.

June Solstice 2022

June Solstice 2022

.

Equinox

The Solstice falls on Tues 21 June.  The word ‘solstice’ means ‘the Sun stands still’, as it reaches the furthest point on its journey along the horizon.  If you’ve never tracked where the Sun rises each morning on the horizon, and noticed how that point changes with the seasons, getting progressively further north or south, then I really invite you to do so!

This stillpoint is the origin of the ancient standing stones, tracking alignments over the course of a year (and much more besides, like predicting eclipses, but that’s another story!).

The June solstice is the furthest north that the Sun rises, which is mid-summer in the northern hemisphere, and mid-winter in the southern hemisphere.  And guess what? On that day, the Sun is directly overhead at the Tropic of Cancer – that’s how the Tropics got their name, because the June solstice is by definition the moment the Sun moves into the tropical zodiac sign of Cancer.

winter solstice Newgrange

The June solstice is the longest day of summer (northern hemisphere), or the shortest day of winter (southern hemisphere), and after this, the days get shorter (northern hemisphere) or longer (southern hemisphere) as we move towards the September Equinox where day and night are equal once more.

The solstice is the real turning point of the year, and was always celebrated in ancient times, often with bonfires and dancing.  Plants especially respond to the change in the length of days, often only germinating either before or after the solstice.  If we were more in tune with Nature, ie without artificial light, we’d respond a lot more obviously too!

The solstice is exact at 7.14pm Queensland time (AEST).

Solstices have always been traditional mid-season times of celebration and feasting.

Have a wonderful Solstice, whether you’re celebrating midsummer or midwinter! ❤️

Supermoon Full Moon in Sagittarius 2022

Supermoon Full Moon in Sagittarius 2022

.

SuperMoon

The Full Moon in Sagittarius on Tues 14 June is the first of three consecutive Supermoons this year, appearing larger and brighter in the sky than the usual.

A Supermoon occurs when the Full Moon coincides with the Moon’s closest point to the Earth in her monthly orbit, making the Full Moon appear much bigger in the night sky.  The effects we normally associate with the Full Moon are really heightened by the Supermoon, so we’re likely to experience feelings running high, a stronger-than-usual emotional charge and tense situations reaching a climax.

Supermoons are also associated with higher tides than usual, and extreme weather patterns like storms and flooding.  Full Moons tend to bring situations to a head anyway, and this is intensified by the Supermoon – heads up police, emergency services and hospital workers!

Sagittarius is eternally buoyant and optimistic, driven by the need to find meaning in life, if not THE meaning of life.  The Full Moon in Sagittarius invites us to find a balance between this enthusiastic search for truth and the need to approach an issue rationally, collecting information first rather than acting impulsively.  Sagittarius is famous for leaping into situations, all fired up, ready to fight for a cause or go on a quest, without stopping to check the facts first – and then in its enthusiasm and thirst for adventure, it doesn’t know when (or sometimes even how!) to stop and rein in the energy – it’s what gives Sagittarius its OTT reputation, ie being completely Over The Top!  So use the energies of this Full Moon to find that balance in your life.

The Full Moon in Sagittarius can also bring up issues of trust, whether that’s trust in others, trust in yourself – or ultimately of course – trust in the Universe.

The Full Moon is exact at 9.51pm Queensland time (AEST) at 23 Sagittarius.  Check your chart to see which part of your life is under the spotlight.  Remember the effects will be stronger than usual because it’s a Supermoon.

Saturn goes retrograde

Saturn goes retrograde

.

Saturn

Saturn slows to a halt ready to go retrograde on 5 June (4 June in Europe and the Americas) at 25 Aquarius.

Saturn retrograde encourages us to review the recent past and assess our ability to take full responsibility for our actions.  It also urges us to re-examine the way we have structured our lives.

This is a good time to look at the ways we limit ourselves, and bring our fears to the conscious light of day.  This is also a good time to review our ability to say ’No’ and ensure that we can maintain healthy boundaries in all areas of our lives.

The Saturn retrograde period lasts until 23 Oct 2022.

If your birthday falls around 14 Feb, this is likely to be a time of increased responsibility for you, for a month either side of 5 June, as you enter a new phase of maturity and step into a place of personal authority.  Your workload may increase at this time – if you accept the extra responsibility, this can be a time of success and achievement.

Saturn is a planet where we truly reap what we sow – if you’ve put in the hard work, this is very likely to be a time of achievement.  However, if you’ve cut corners along the way, this is likely to be a time when you come unstuck and this often leads to feelings of failure and depression.  If you’ve put in the work though, this is the time when it all finally pays off!

A question to reflect on during this Saturn retrograde period is: What steps are you taking to strengthen the foundations of your life?

Clear road ahead – Mercury goes direct

Mercury goes direct

.

Screen Shot 2021-10-08 at 12.05.40 pm

We can all heave a sigh of relief as Mercury goes direct on 3 June after three weeks of its usual challenges, delays and frustrations.

Mercury stations at 26 Taurus.  As Mercury starts to move forwards again, the frustrations of the last three weeks will ease and communications become a lot smoother.

In the days leading up to Mercury going direct, continue to double-check appointments and flight times, that you have your keys with you, and that messages get through OK.  Be prepared for delays, especially if you’re travelling. Remember that confusion and misunderstandings occur much more easily at this time.

Try to delay any major purchases or contract-signing till at least a week after Mercury’s gone direct again.

New Moon in Gemini 2022

New Moon in Gemini 2022

3Gemini

New Moon in Gemini  Mon 30 May at 9.30pm Queensland time (AEST) at 9 Gemini

Supermoon Full Moon in Sagittarius  Tues 14 June 2022 at 9.51pm Queensland time (AEST) at 23 Sagittarius

Skywatching  Saturn is visible late evening, followed by Jupiter rising just after midnight.   By early  morning before sunrise, five planets are visible – Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, and Venus, with Mercury low on the eastern horizon.  Mercury will become clearly visible as a morning star by mid-June.  If you catch the end of the Moon cycle, you’ll see the dying Crescent Moon there too.

Mercury retro has been having a field day this last lunar month – with a plane leaving Heathrow having to turn back because the pilot hadn’t completed his training (!). being just one example.  In our Astro*Travels FB group, we’ve been sharing extraordinary Mercury retro stories.

In Australia, the general election came just as Mercury was half-way through its retrograde journey, so astrologers were expecting confusion around polling and the results – maybe even contested results as had happened in the US.  Thankfully we’ve had a clear result, although not without a few hiccups along the way such as the 200,000 people who found themselves unable to vote at the last minute because they had tested positive for COVID but were too late to apply for a postal vote – it took last-minute legal intervention to allow them to vote by phone.  Quite a Mercury retro story!  Thankfully the new progressive government with the swing to Independents and Greens represents a new era of compassion and inclusivity corresponding to the Jupiter-Neptune signature of this year, and climate change action as indicated by Mars-Jupiter (see last month’s newsletter).

The New Moon falls in Gemini on Mon 30 May, bringing an opportunity to begin a new cycle in the way we communicate, network and exchange ideas.

As an Air sign, Gemini is naturally objective and rational, so has a real talent for dealing with information.  Gemini has a combination of sociability and extreme curiosity – the answer to one question simply creates more questions!  Through its association with the media, this can be an excellent sign for journalism. Gemini is also associated with education, and the natural curiosity of this sign often makes learning effortless.  A New Moon in the sign of Gemini can usher in a new cycle in any of these areas.

If your birthday falls close to this New Moon, within a day either side, this marks a significant year ahead for you.  The new cycles starting in your life now are likely to be in connection with your sense of self, your identity and your purpose in life.

The New Moon falls at 9 degrees Gemini.  If you have points in your birth chart close to this degree (within one degree), then a new cycle is likely to begin in that part of your life (eg relationships for Venus).

The New Moon is exact at 9.30pm Queensland time AEST.  Remember to set your intentions in the 24 hrs immediately after the New Moon.

🌟 Friday 13th – a day sacred to the Goddess! 🌟

Today is Friday 13th – a day sacred to the Goddess!

GoddessThe number 13 has always been associated with the Goddess – there are 13 lunar months in the year, as opposed to 12 solar months.

Friday is the day of Venus, the sensuous feminine aspect of the Goddess. You can see the connection in Romance languages like French (Friday = Vendredi), Italian (Venerdi) – in English Friday comes from the day of Freya (Frija), the Teutonic equivalent of Venus.

So Friday 13th is a day doubly sacred to the Goddess ❤️  My father always said it was a lucky day for him.

It became “unlucky” for many reasons – when the patriarchy suppressed the old Goddess religion, 13 had to be rebranded as unlucky. That to me is the most obvious and ancient answer! Then there’s the Last Supper – with Judas seen as the 13th person there (12 disciplines plus Jesus = 13, so Judas was known as the 13th). Then too in the persecution of the Knights Templar, their Grand Master Jacques de Molay and 60 knights were arrested on Friday 13 October 1307, a day which became infamous. They were later executed, most of them burned at the stake.

So remember Friday 13th is a day doubly sacred to the Goddess ❤️

Total Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio: Secrets come to light?

Total Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio: Secrets come to light?

.

Blood Moon

The Full Moon in Scorpio on Mon 16 May is a total lunar eclipse, a blood moon which won’t be visible in Australia – the best place to see it would be South America or the East Coast of North America.  Its effects will still be felt in your chart though!

At the collective level, total lunar eclipses are associated with earth changes such as volcanos and earthquakes, and extreme weather events.

At a personal level, an eclipsed Full Moon in Scorpio is likely to be a highly emotional time when deep and passionate feelings are revealed.  There is a strong possibility of secrets or intensely private matters coming to light, possibly with a sexual content or concerning financial matters.

Interestingly, this Scorpio eclipse falls in the week leading up to the general election in Australia, so keep an eye out for juicy scandals hitting the media!!!  The Full Moon also has Mars-Neptune closely configured so there’s likely to be a visionary, idealistic feel to actions taken now.

This Lunar Eclipse also falls on a couple of really significant points in Queen Elizabeth’s chart – fittingly perhaps for her Platinum Jubilee, the culmination of her reign. It could also bring about unexpected changes for her in terms of her public duties and her position in the world.  In fact the Taurus-Scorpio eclipses this year activate many of the charts of the British Royal family, so don’t be surprised if we see significant changes occurring.  If you’d like to know more, my workshop on the Taurus-Scorpio eclipses (recorded at the end of last year) discusses these charts in detail.

The eclipsed Full Moon falls at 25 Scorpio on Mon 16 May 2022 at 2.14pm Queensland time (AEST) at 25 Scorpio.  The best time for ceremony will be the previous evening while the energies are still building.

Jupiter moves into Aries

Jupiter moves into Aries

Jupiter canstockphoto
Jupiter changes signs this month, moving into the action-oriented sign of Aries on 11 May for just over 5 months before briefly revisiting Pisces.  With a contact to Uranus at this changeover, it’s likely that Jupiter’s entry into Aries might come with a surprise or two.

Jupiter often brings changes to the law, looking at questions of justice, morals and ethics.  One example of its movement through Pisces over the past year is that it’s brought questions connected with water to the fore: water catchments, fracking, the oceans being poisoned, and pollution from the fishing industry.

Aries on Fire

As Jupiter moves into Aries we’re likely to see questions arising around warfare and armaments – Mars the ruler of Aries was after all the god of War.  There could also be new legislation around family violence, and perhaps too around issues in the sports world, such as gender identity in competitive sport.

Mars joins Jupiter in Aries on 25 May (AEST). Transiting Mars is always like putting your foot on the accelerator, especially in Aries.  I hate to say it, but traditionally this is an indicator of warfare, with Mars providing the action and Jupiter the confidence.  Personally I would love to see this energy channelled more positively into large-scale action on the climate emergency.  Whatever the cause, this is definitely a call to direct action.  Meanwhile send your prayers and intentions for peace to all countries suffering conflict right now.
