Turbulent Full Moon in Gemini 2022

Turbulent Full Moon in Gemini 2022

.

The Full Moon in Gemini on Thurs 8 Dec invites us to find a balance between logic and intuitive knowing, between the cold hard facts and our beliefs, ie what we believe to be true. This Full Moon invites us to integrate both polarities, yet also warns us against being too gullible.

.

This Full Moon is likely to be especially turbulent as it falls exactly on Mars, right at the middle of its retro cycle at 16 Gemini.  In political astrology (also known as mundane astrology, but don’t be fooled by the name!) this conjures up images of the people (the Moon) fighting (Mars) against the leader/king (the Sun). Full Moons tend to bring situations to a head at the best of times, so don’t be surprised if things get heated and assertive (hopefully not aggressive) action is taken.  Keep an eye on the international news!  Situations arising now could be very volatile, and patience would be recommended.

.

The Full Moon is exact on Thurs 8 Dec at 2.08pm AEST (Queensland time) so the best time for ceremony or celebrations will be the previous evening while the energy is still building.

Wading through treacle? Mars retro 2022

Mars Retrograde 2022

Mars 2
If you feel like you’re wading through treacle at the moment, there are a couple of things going on astrologically that are contributing to that! Mars is retrograde all this lunar month, slowing everything down and demanding that we exercise patience, perhaps with some anger management strategies thrown in, as discussed in last month’s newsletter.  With regard to ongoing projects, when we take our foot off the proverbial accelerator and take a step back, we can often see what changes need to be made to improve our work, or simply fine-tune it.  Use this Mars retro time wisely to review and improve whatever you’ve been working on.
.
.
While Mars is on its retrograde journey through Gemini, it is forming a series of squares to Neptune, which has the unfortunate effect of dissipating the energy of Mars and often throwing in a sense of confusion for good measure.  So if you’ve been feeling wiped, exhausted, unfocused – especially in the week leading up to the New Moon – it’s very likely that the Mars-Neptune square (at 22 Gemini-Pisces) has been affecting your chart.  Ideally, we would harness these energies more positively: Mars-Neptune is a combination that can be associated with taking visionary action, fighting for your ideals, or even tantric sex – but because it’s a square, conscious effort is required to integrate the two energies.
 .
 .
The challenges of Mars-Neptune should be eased by a helpful Mars-Saturn trine on 29 Nov, encouraging us to be more disciplined, practical and grounded.
 .
.
Mars retrograde in Gemini is a really appropriate signature for everything that’s currently going down at Twitter, plus all the confusion from Neptune!
 .
 .
Mars is retrograde until 13 Jan 2023 AEST, so it’s unlikely things will be resolved before then (unless the whole thing collapses!)

New Moon in Sagittarius 2022 – and Jupiter goes direct

New Moon in Sagittarius  Thurs 24 Nov 2022 at 8.57am AEST (Queensland time) at 1 Sagittarius

Full Moon in Gemini  Thurs 8 Dec 2022 at 2.08pm AEST (Queensland time) at 16 Gemini

.
December Lunar Phases & Moon Planting Guide ☘️🍃🎋

.

Have you been feeling exhausted and unfocused? Mars retro in Gemini is squaring off with Neptune in Pisces, especially in this week leading up to the New Moon.  It could well be triggering placements in your chart.  The key is to integrate and transform this energies  – see below.  The really good news?  The eclipse season is finally over with this New Moon!

.

The New Moon in Sagittarius on Thurs 24 Nov 2022 is an opportunity to begin a new cycle in your life that’s adventurous, enthusiastically exploring new frontiers, feeling the need to enjoy life to the full.  This is a perfect time to start on a spiritual quest, a course of study or overseas travel – anything that expands your horizons. The travel can of course be internal – a spiritual journey, to the truth of who you are.
 .
Sagittarius is a Fire sign, warm and enthusiastic, naturally optimistic and with an undying trust in the Universe.  Sagittarians love to explore and go on adventures, not just for the fun of it, but because they’re also motivated by a quest to discover the Meaning of Life.
.
Their sign is ruled by Jupiter, stationing direct at this New Moon and in a supportive aspect to the New Moon, which increases the trademark Sagittarian boundless enthusiasm and confidence.  On the downside (every sign has its downside), Sagittarians can have a tendency to go over the top, take lots of risks through being over-confident, and can over-extend themselves, not knowing when or where to stop.
 .
Find where this New Moon falls in your chart at 1 degree Sagittarius and tune into the new departure that could be starting for you now.  The house placement will show you which part of your life is most affected.
.
If you have a planet at 1 degree of Sagittarius, this marks the beginning of a new cycle in whatever that planet symbolises (eg relationships for Venus).
.
If your birthday is close to this New Moon (within a day either side), this marks the beginning of a significant new cycle in your life in terms of your identity and your sense of purpose.
.
Set your New Moon intentions within 24 hours of the New Moon, exact at 8.57am AEST (Queensland time).

On the very same day as the New Moon, Jupiter goes direct at 28 degrees Pisces, indicating that the restraint and apparent lack of progress of recent months should now be resolved (although the current Mars-Neptune square is complicating things).  Renewed hope and optimism should begin to emerge now – however things may not progress as quickly as you’d like, because we’re still under the influence of Mars retro.  As Jupiter turns direct, reviews of injustice and other legal matters that have been ongoing for a while are likely to be brought to resolution.

At a personal level, if you have been questioning your beliefs or dealing with issues of faith or trust over the last four months, Jupiter’s direct motion is likely to bring resolution and more clarity.

Jupiter returns to Aries on 21 Dec.

Total Lunar Eclipse Blood Moon – Full Moon in Taurus 2022

Total Lunar Eclipse Blood Moon – Full Moon in Taurus 2022

,
Blood Moon

The Full Moon in Taurus on Tues 8 November is a total lunar eclipse, amping up the energy of this Full Moon.  Full Moons tend to bring situations to a head and a total lunar eclipse really adds to the intensity of whatever’s happening.

This total lunar eclipse will be visible as a Blood Moon on the east coast of Australia, starting with the partial eclipse phase at 7.09pm AEST (add an hour to these times if you’re on daylight savings).  The Full Blood Moon Eclipse is from 8.16pm-9.41pm AEST, with the maximum eclipse at 8.59pm AEST.  After the total Blood Moon phase, it moves once more through partial eclipse before the Full Moon becomes visible again after 10.49pm AEST.

lunar eclipseIf you’re in New Zealand, Japan or the west cost of Canada, you’ll get a stunning view of the entire Blood Moon eclipse, including the penumbral (half-shadow) stages before and after the partial eclipse stages.

At the collective level, the eclipsed Full Moon in Taurus asks that we bring our attention to Mother Earth, that we honour our role as her guardians and the caretakers of our beautiful planet. This is a cosmic invitation to create a new path forwards, taking conscious action to insist that governments, multinational corporations – and even individuals – stop abusing their power and stop abusing the planet.

Mercury and Uranus are strongly configured here, so this lunar eclipse could well bring some surprising or even shocking news to light. Keep an eye on the international news around this time!

As the eclipses continue to move through the signs of Taurus and Scorpio, our challenge is to let go of outdated exploitative business models that ravage the Earth, and create a path which honours the Earth and all forms of life here.

At a personal level, this eclipsed Full Moon in Taurus brings into focus your ability to be sensuous and grounded and is an excellent time to indulge the senses and pamper the body. This Full Moon invites you to find a balance between the physical sensuality of Taurus and the emotional depth of Scorpio, great if everything is open in your relationship, but if there are underlying issues around jealousy or possessiveness, this Lunar eclipse could bring the situation to a head with some emotional drama playing out!

Check your birth chart to see which house is under the spotlight at 16 degrees Taurus as this is the area of life where matters may come to fruition or be revealed, intensified by the eclipse.

This eclipsed Full Moon is exact at 9.02pm AEST (Queensland time).
 .

Take care during this eclipse season!

Mars turns retrograde 2023

Mars turns retrograde 2023

Mars 2Get ready to exercise patience as Mars turns retrograde!   It’s been in its retro shadow since 4 Sept, getting gradually slower and slower, then stops and turns retro on Sun 30 Oct at 25 degrees Gemini.  Watch where you direct your energy, and try to finish up any projects you’re working on long before Mars turns retro.  Mars retro is characterized by a sense of getting nowhere fast, of projects stalling, of pushing sh*t uphill, leading to all kinds of frustration.

Any anger felt now is likely to be expressed verbally (Mars in Gemini) – but if not expressed, then it’s likely to fester in brooding resentment, or worse, make you depressed or physically ill.

frustration aheadSo here’s an opportunity to learn some anger management strategies, like counting to ten, leaving the room till you’ve calmed down, then go for a walk , dig the garden or go to the gym – anything that gets you physically moving the energy!  Just remember it’s important to come back later and resolve the triggering situation from a place of calm objectivity.  Be mindful especially of any feelings of impatience, frustration, competitiveness, resentment …. they’re all Mars under different guises.

The key is to be patient, as life seems to thwart our every attempt at moving forwards.  Slow down, listen to the Universe and use the time wisely to review and redesign – it might not take much, maybe just a few tweaks here and there – but this is an opportunity to revisit your decisions and your actions.  Use this period wisely, and make sure you don’t blow a fuse

The gift of retrograde Mars is learning patience … breathe!  Just take a breath and take the urgency (and stress!) out of the picture.  The likely outcome is that your final result will be an improved version of the original.

Mars is retrograde until Fri 13 Jan 2023 (AEST) when it turns direct at 8 degrees Gemini. Because of its retrograde motion, Mars will actually stay in Gemini till the end of March next year.

Venus Star Point moves to Libra

Venus Star Point moves to Libra

Rose of Venus

The Venus Star Point (VSP) is where Venus and the Sun meet up – almost at the same point each time, but moving slowly backwards through the zodiac.  There are 5 such points in Venus’ 8-year cycle.

.

On the morning of 23 Oct (AEST, the previous day in Europe and the Americas), Venus joins with the Sun at 29 degrees Libra, the first VSP in Libra for about 150 years.

.

It’s likely to herald a shift in our relationship with the feminine as Venus rules the sign of Libra – this VSP had been in Scorpio for many years.  Venus and Sun both move on into Scorpio later that same day.

Mercury goes direct 2 Oct 2022

Screen Shot 2021-10-08 at 12.05.40 pm

Mercury goes direct

We can all heave a sigh of relief as Mercury goes direct after three weeks of its usual communication challenges, delays and frustrations.

Mercury goes direct on 2 Oct, stationing at 24 degrees Virgo after its recent retrograde period.  The frustrations of the last three weeks will now ease and communications become a lot smoother again.

In the days leading up to Mercury going direct, continue to double-check appointment times, that you have your keys with you, and that messages get through OK.  Remember that confusion and misunderstandings occur much more easily at this time. Try to delay any major purchases or contract-signing till at least a week after Mercury’s gone direct.

New Moon in Libra 2022

New Moon in Libra 2022

New Moon in Libra   Mon 26 Sept 2022 at 7.54am Queensland time (AEST) at 2 Libra

Full Moon in Aries   Mon 10 Oct 2022 at 6.54am Queensland time (AEST) at 16 Aries

.Skywatching   Mercury can be seen as a bright Morning Star around 8 Oct.  Saturn and Jupiter are visible after sunset in the eastern sky.

.

Things are starting to heat up. The eclipses are coming, starting at the end of October, bringing unexpected changes into our lives from this coming Full Moon onwards.  We enter the six-week eclipse season at this Full Moon.  Pluto and Saturn both turn direct this month, intensifying their energy during their stationary periods. Meanwhile Mars is starting to slow down, ready for his retro journey at the end of Oct.   The good news?  We have a new Venus Star Point forming on 23 Oct (AEST), in its home sign of Libra.

If you’re interested in the Asteroids and the newly-discovered dwarf planets, I have a new course coming up soon Astro*Goddesses where we’ll examine all the different faces of these feminine archetypes.  More info and registration

*

The New Moon falls in Libra on Mon 26 Sept bringing the opportunity to start a new cycle in your relationships and connections with others.

Libra is the sign of the born diplomat, the mediator who can always see both sides of any issue and wants the result to be harmonious. The symbol for Libra after all is the scales, where things can be weighed and balanced.

This New Moon in Libra is a good time to focus on restoring balance in your life, consolidating the theme of the Equinox last month, by implementing whatever changes are required to bring your life back into balance and harmony.

Libra is an Air sign, sociable and communicative, with a huge need for fairness.  It’s also one of the leadership signs, but its point of difference is that it doesn’t need to be out front – quite the contrary. The leadership style of Libra is inclusive and co-operative, making Libra an excellent leader.  The challenge however for Libra is decision-making!  They are so good at seeing all sides of the question that reaching a final decision can be agony for them, especially when they’re trying to keep everyone happy.  Because they hate disharmony, people-pleasing is often one of their main issues, not helped by their reluctance to confront and tackle any problem areas.  Embracing more of the assertiveness of their opposite sign Aries can be really helpful.

This New Moon is opposite Jupiter, suggesting that questions of abundance (do I have enough?) and trust (am I supported by the Universe?) are likely to come up in this lunar month.  This is an opportunity for you to actively integrate a sense of trusting the Universe, and a sense of having abundance in your life if you don’t yet experience this.  A gratitude practice can really help, where each morning you focus on all the things you’re grateful for in your life.

If your birthday is close to this New Moon, this marks the beginning of a significant new cycle in your life in terms of your identity and your sense of purpose.

If you have planets at 2 degrees of Libra, this marks the beginning of a new cycle in whatever that planet symbolises (eg responsibility for Saturn).

Remember to set your New Moon intentions within 24 hours of this New Moon. The New Moon is exact at 7.54am Queensland time (AEST) at 2 degrees Libra.
