Uranus in Taurus is something of a contradiction in terms as Uranus the Great Awakener, the planet that brings earthquakes, lightning storms and mass shifts of consciousness moves into the sign of solid, immovable Earth-bound Taurus!!! 

Uranus moves into Taurus on Wed 16 May, the day after the New Moon in Taurus which invites us to begin a new cycle in our relationship with Mother Earth and our physical world.  The New Moon in Taurus invites us to connect deeply with the land, to appreciate the abundance of Nature, to acknowledge the sacred beauty of the Earth and to embody this by stepping into our protective role as her guardians.

Uranus moving into Taurus will amplify this impulse a thousand-fold, bringing a mass awakening of respect for this planet we call home, Mother Earth, and increasing our awareness of how we are destroying her pristine environment on every front.  

Over the next seven years, the environmental movements that have so far existed on the fringes will become completely mainstream, so that in 7 years’ time, by the end of Uranus’ journey through Taurus, no-one will ever believe that we used poisons to grow our food, that we abused and horrendously slaughtered animals for meat, or that we treated the oceans as sewage and garbage dumps.  We are waking up to our responsibility for these eco-atrocities, to our responsibility for the stewardship of the planet, and there’s a growing desire globally to return to the pristine environment that Earth once enjoyed.  Uranus in Taurus is very likely to see this shift in consciousness become mainstream.

In addition, Uranus in Taurus will bring an increased awareness of our physical bodies and the effect of food and the environment on our bodies.  One likely development of this new consciousness is that veganism will become far more common, gaining the same popularity as vegetarianism has now.

Organic farming is likely to become much more widely accepted as the obvious solution to issues such as killing off our pollinators (bees + many other beneficial insects) by using toxic chemicals in agricultural food production.  Without pollinators, we won’t have any crops!

Uranus is associated with innovation and new technologies, as well as a radical, revolutionary approach. “Digital disruption” is classic Uranus!  As Uranus moves through Taurus, these new technologies are likely to be applied not only to agriculture but also (through the Venus rulership of Taurus) to the finance sector.  Uranus in Taurus is likely to see significant changes in money dealings and currencies, such as the rise in cryptocurrencies (eg Bitcoin, one of the earliest) which have been made possible by blockchain technology.  Significantly, given Uranus’ reputation for revolution, cryptocurrencies don’t rely on the central banks but have decentralised control.  This represents a seismic shift in the power base of the establishment, and will be a major player in its inevitable transformation as we continue through Pluto in Capricorn (until 2025, aligning perfectly with the seven years of Uranus in Taurus!).

Blockchain technology can also be applied to agriculture.  One of its advantages is that it can trace the origin and content of food products, securely recording whether it’s from a certified organic source or it’s been sustainably fished/raised/harvested for example, at every stage along the food supply chain.  At the click of an app we’ll be able to trace the journey of our food from source to table, bringing a welcome transparency to food labelling.

Uranus is in Taurus until early July 2025 (returns briefly to Aries early Nov 18 – early March 19)
