Cracks in the system – first Saturn-Uranus square

Screen Shot 2021-02-14 at 11.26.56 am

The first of three Saturn–Uranus squares this year is exact on Thurs 18 Feb.  This energy combination of the old vs the new is the hallmark signature of 2021, and is certainly part of the massive polarization that is playing out in so many different areas of society.

Uranus is the planet of innovation, a new direction that disrupts the status quo, one that is usually exciting and renders the old systems obsolete, probably bringing them crashing down around our ears.  I call it “earthquake” energy because that’s what it feels like.  The old system is shaken up and has to crack open in order to let in the light, the light of conscious awareness and expose those hidden parts where maybe there have been misuses (or even abuses) of power.

Saturn is the planet that represents the status quothe old order, the entrenched system that may have become rigid and resistance to change.  To the old order, the prospect of the changes that Uranus is bringing is terrifying, as everything they know and hold dear could come crashing down!!!  Chaos!!!  And they’re right up to a point, because the lower vibration of Uranus is chaos and revolution, even anarchy.  So they try to resist the changes that are hurtling towards them.

Every planet has its higher and lower vibrations, and the cosmic invitation with this Saturn-Uranus square is to integrate the positive qualities of these two vastly different energies.

The higher vibration of Saturn is clear boundaries, responsibility and structure, such as providing frameworks, regulations and laws.  But one of the negative ways that Saturn can manifest is control, based in fear, so the question that arises is: is Saturn creating clear boundaries to protect people and protect society, or is it being repressive?

Similarly, is Uranus championing individual rights and freedoms, innovations and new technology that can benefit humanity, or is it being rebellious for the sake of it?  Or possibly even autocratic, another of Uranus’ negative faces?  How disruptive is this likely to be, and at what human cost?  Is anarchy on the cards?

The kind of challenges that we’re already seeing arising with this Saturn-Uranus square are:

  • Regulation (Saturn) of the big tech companies (Uranus)
  • Mandatory laws (Saturn) vs individual rights and freedoms (Uranus) (especially around the pandemic)
  • The banking system (Saturn) vs cryptocurrency (Uranus)

It’s possible that on some topics, you’d side with Saturn, and on others you’d side with Uranus, that’s natural.  However what the Universe is really inviting us to do, is to find a way through the polarization and integrate the positive expression of these two energies, such as providing a legal framework (Saturn) that supports an innovation (Uranus).

In the first exact Saturn-Uranus square, the Moon is close to Uranus, which suggests that people will identify more with Uranus, and that individual rights and personal freedoms are likely to be a hot topic during this first contact.

(If you’d like to hear more on this fascinating topic, I discuss the Saturn-Uranus squares of 2021 further in my Paradigm Shift webinar which is now available as a recording.)

Shifting Belief Systems -Third Jupiter-Pluto conjunction 2020

Shifting Belief Systems – Third Jupiter-Pluto Conjunction

The third and last of the Jupiter-Pluto conjunctions is on Fri 13 Nov at 22 Capricorn, the exact same degree of the Saturn-Pluto conjunction in January of this year, asking us to reexamine our views of the way that very heavy energy combination has manifested this year.

Jupiter and Pluto together invite us to transform our belief systems, and by now, with this third contact, we’ve had quite a bit of practice at this!  Hopefully we’ve now integrated these energies well.

Personally I see this shift in belief systems as a necessary precursor for the even bigger collective shift that is coming at the end of this year as Jupiter and Saturn meet up in the Air sign of Aquarius, ushering in a new 200-year cycle where our focus is no longer on the dense Earth energy of material wealth and exploitation of the earth’s resources, but a lighter, freer energy that focuses on communities, connections, and technological innovations that will benefit all life on the planet.  It’s already coming, and we got a glimpse of it in the early days of the pandemic when people realised that all the things the powers-that-be had said they couldn’t possibly do (like restrict air travel, close polluting factories – stop the world basically – and give people a universal income) suddenly happened overnight.  It was like a breath of fresh air, and a glimpse of the new era that awaits us.  I’ll write more on this soon.

Venus starts her new 584-day cycle

Venus starts her new 584-day cycle

On Thurs 4 June Venus gets to the midpoint of her retrograde journey and joins with the Sun.  This is known as the inferior or interior conjunction of Venus to the Sun (as it’s the one nearest the Earth), and it’s especially significant because it marks the beginning of the next 584-day cycle of Venus, a cycle sacred to the Mayans.

Following this, she will soon rise in the East as the Morning Star, her warrior goddess incarnation, a time that was traditionally seen as a good omen to go to war.  She’ll be first visible as a Morning Star around Fri 12 June, rising in the pre-dawn light before the Sun in the east – you’ll need to get up early to see her in her glory!!!

The lovers Venus and Mars are at odds this month, with Mars in dreamy Pisces and Venus in curious Gemini all month long – in fact because of her retrograde motion, Venus will be in Gemini for a total of 4 months The lovers are unlikely to see eye-to-eye, and will have to put a lot of effort into getting along together this lunar month.

Venus goes retro 2020 – old friends & lovers reappear

Old friends and lovers reappear in your life

..

The birth of the goddess Venus - detail

Venus goes retrograde on Wed 13 May 2020 at 21 degrees Gemini.  Venus signifies our urge to relate to others, so don’t be surprised if old friends and lovers reappear in your life during the retrograde phase of Venus – you may hear from people you haven’t seen for ages.  Or you may be the one seeking to reconnect.  Venus retrograde often brings an opportunity to revisit past relationships, especially if there is any unfinished business there.

Venus retrograde moves through 8-year cycles, so think back to what was happening for you eight years ago in May & June 2012 when Venus last went retrograde in Gemini, for insight into what themes might arise for you this time round.  Venus is retrograde for six weeks until Thurs 25 June 2020.  If you have Taurus or Libra prominent in your chart (especially as your rising sign), Venus retrograde cycles are likely to have a strong impact on you.

Rose of Venus

Venus will continue to be visible as the Evening Star for a couple of weeks after she turns retrograde, but will be seen gradually lower in the evening sky until she is no longer visible (as she gets closer and closer to the Sun).  With this retrograde conjunction to the Sun, Venus disappears for seven days, after which time she emerges transformed as the Morning Star, and a whole new 584-day cycle begins (a cycle sacred to the Mayans).

In ancient times Venus was seen as a dual goddess – the Evening Star was her peaceful aspect, whereas the Morning Star was her warrior incarnation; the rebirth of the Morning Star was seen as an auspicious time to go into battle.  Venus will reappear as the Morning Star from mid-June.
