Venus starts her new 584-day cycle

Venus starts her new 584-day cycle

On Thurs 4 June Venus gets to the midpoint of her retrograde journey and joins with the Sun.  This is known as the inferior or interior conjunction of Venus to the Sun (as it’s the one nearest the Earth), and it’s especially significant because it marks the beginning of the next 584-day cycle of Venus, a cycle sacred to the Mayans.

Following this, she will soon rise in the East as the Morning Star, her warrior goddess incarnation, a time that was traditionally seen as a good omen to go to war.  She’ll be first visible as a Morning Star around Fri 12 June, rising in the pre-dawn light before the Sun in the east – you’ll need to get up early to see her in her glory!!!

The lovers Venus and Mars are at odds this month, with Mars in dreamy Pisces and Venus in curious Gemini all month long – in fact because of her retrograde motion, Venus will be in Gemini for a total of 4 months The lovers are unlikely to see eye-to-eye, and will have to put a lot of effort into getting along together this lunar month.

We’re moving into eclipse season now with this New Moon, as we head towards the Lunar eclipse Full Moon on 6 June, so take extra care right now, especially with things where accidents can easily happen such as driving.  We’re actually moving into an extended eclipse season, as we have a Solar eclipse at the start of next lunar month, followed by another Lunar eclipse, making this an eight-week eclipse season instead of the usual six-week period, during which time we need to be extra careful. Eclipses bring sudden change into our lives, often from left field, so the more conscious you can be at this time, the better!

Also a heads up that Mercury’s going retro on 18 June, so make sure all your significant communications, legal documents, major purchases etc are completed a good couple of weeks before then!

I’m working exclusively online now and available as usual, so if you feel in need of guidance in these challenging times, know that I’m here and available for sessions.  Just book online through my website and I’ll be in touch to arrange your appointment – whether you’d like an Astrology Consultation, a Holistic Therapy session or a private Astrology tutorial with me.

The New Moon falls in Gemini on Sat 23 May, signalling the opportunity to begin a new cycle in the way we communicate, network and exchange ideas.

As an Air sign, Gemini is naturally objective and rational, so has a real talent for dealing with information.  Gemini has a combination of sociability and extreme curiosity – the answer to one question simply creates more questions!  Through its association with the media, this can be an excellent sign for journalism. Gemini is also associated with education, and the natural curiosity of this sign often makes learning effortless.  A New Moon in the sign of Gemini can usher in a new cycle in any of these areas.

If your birthday falls close to this New Moon, within a day either side, this marks a year of significant new beginnings in your life, particularly with regard to your identity and your sense of purpose in life.

The New Moon falls at 2 degrees Gemini.  If you have points in your birth chart close to this degree (within one degree) you can expect to begin a new cycle in that part of your life (eg relationships for Venus).

The New Moon is exact at 3.38am AEST (the previous day in Europe and the Americas).  Remember to set your New Moon intentions in the following 24 hrs.

Jupiter goes retrograde 2020

Jupiter canstockphoto

Jupiter goes retro on Fri 15 May AEST (the previous day in Europe and the Americas) at 27 degrees Capricorn.  Jupiter influences social, moral and ethical issues, and Jupiter retrograde periods often bring changes in the law around matters associated with the sign Jupiter is in.  Here in Capricorn, Jupiter is asking us to re-examine the ethics and morality of Capricorn themes such as the establishment, the finance and banking industry, and multinational corporations.  We can expect to see changes to existing laws in these areas during this Jupiter retro period.

In broader terms, the Jupiter retro period is a time when reviews of injustice and other legal matters are likely to take place.

At a personal level, there can be a sense of restraint and apparent lack of progress – hope and optimism might be harder to come by.  Trust issues are likely to resurface, coming up for another opportunity for healing and transformation.  You may find yourself questioning your beliefs or dealing with issues of faith in the next four months.

Remember too that this Jupiter-Pluto period (throughout 2020) is about transformation of our belief structures, so if you feel your old belief systems starting to wobble or collapse, focus on what (in a positive sense) you want to bring through in the new reality we’re starting to create now.  These are times of huge upheaval and change, and we’re all affected.  Jupiter is retro until 13 Sept 2020 when it goes direct once more at 17 degrees Capricorn.

Venus goes retro 2020 – old friends & lovers reappear

Old friends and lovers reappear in your life

..

The birth of the goddess Venus - detail

Venus goes retrograde on Wed 13 May 2020 at 21 degrees Gemini.  Venus signifies our urge to relate to others, so don’t be surprised if old friends and lovers reappear in your life during the retrograde phase of Venus – you may hear from people you haven’t seen for ages.  Or you may be the one seeking to reconnect.  Venus retrograde often brings an opportunity to revisit past relationships, especially if there is any unfinished business there.

Venus retrograde moves through 8-year cycles, so think back to what was happening for you eight years ago in May & June 2012 when Venus last went retrograde in Gemini, for insight into what themes might arise for you this time round.  Venus is retrograde for six weeks until Thurs 25 June 2020.  If you have Taurus or Libra prominent in your chart (especially as your rising sign), Venus retrograde cycles are likely to have a strong impact on you.

Rose of Venus

Venus will continue to be visible as the Evening Star for a couple of weeks after she turns retrograde, but will be seen gradually lower in the evening sky until she is no longer visible (as she gets closer and closer to the Sun).  With this retrograde conjunction to the Sun, Venus disappears for seven days, after which time she emerges transformed as the Morning Star, and a whole new 584-day cycle begins (a cycle sacred to the Mayans).

In ancient times Venus was seen as a dual goddess – the Evening Star was her peaceful aspect, whereas the Morning Star was her warrior incarnation; the rebirth of the Morning Star was seen as an auspicious time to go into battle.  Venus will reappear as the Morning Star from mid-June.

Saturn goes retro 2020

Saturn in Sagittarius

Saturn grinds to a halt on Mon 11 May at 1 degree Aquarius, ready to start his retrograde journey back towards Capricorn, which he re-enters on 2 July (AEST). The Saturn retrograde period lasts until 29 Sept 2020.

Saturn retrograde encourages us to review the recent past and assess our ability to take full responsibility for our actions.  It also urges us to re-examine the way we have structured our lives.  This is a good time to look at the ways we limit ourselves, and bring our fears to the conscious light of day.  This is also a good time to review our ability to say ’No’ and ensure that we can maintain healthy boundaries in all areas of our lives.

If your birthday falls around 16 Jan, this is likely to be a time of increased responsibility for you, as you enter a new phase of maturity and step into a place of personal authority.  Your workload may increase at this time, and if you accept this extra responsibility, this can be a successful time for you.  Saturn is a planet where we truly reap what we sow: if you’ve put in the hard work, this is likely to be a time of achievement.  However, if you’ve cut corners along the way, this is a time when you can come unstuck and this can lead to feelings of failure

Supermoon Full Moon in Scorpio 2020

Secret matters come to light?

supermoon

The Full Moon falls in Scorpio this lunar month, the fourth and last SuperMoon in the consecutive sequence of four SuperMoons this year, intensifying the energies and heightening our emotional responses at this Full Moon time.  These Supermoons are probably increasing people’s panic response to the COVID-19 situation too.

SuperMoons are associated with extreme weather patterns, like the storms and flooding we had with the earlier SuperMoons, so it doesn’t look like the extreme nature of weather events is likely to go away anytime soon.

In a SuperMoon, the Moon is closer to the Earth than usual, so the Full Moon appears larger in the sky, causing tides to be higher, and intensifying all the things you normally associate with a Full Moon, such as feelings running high.  Full Moons tend to bring situations to a head, and this is intensified by the SuperMoon – heads up police, emergency services and hospital workers!

The SuperMoon Full Moon falls in Scorpio on Thurs 7 May.  This is likely to be a very emotional time when deep and passionate feelings are revealed. This Scorpio Full Moon brings a strong possibility of secret or intensely private matters coming to light, possibly with a sexual content or maybe concerning financial matters (or even both!).  Remember these issues will be intensified by the SuperMoon.

Check your chart to see which house is under the spotlight!  The Full Moon is at 17 degrees Scorpio and is exact at 8.45pm AEST.

Pluto goes retrograde

pluto symbolPluto slows to a halt on Sun 26 April 2020 AEST, ready to begin his retrograde journey.  If anything in your life has been going through symbolic death throes in the last six months, this is a time when you are likely to revisit the whole process, perhaps at an even deeper level as you search for the hidden truths and the soul essence of who you are, the alchemist’s gold that can eventually emerge from the blackness.

Pluto is stationary at 24 degrees of Capricorn (actually 24 CP 59, so just one minute of arc short of 25 degrees Capricorn).  Anyone whose birthday falls around 15-16 Jan is likely to be experiencing a very intense time while personal transformation goes on at a deep core level – the eventual outcome is empowerment, the ability to stand comfortably in your own power, but it’s a long drawn-out process which won’t be complete until the end of 2021.  This will also be true for anyone with personal planets at this degree, or at 24-25 degrees of the other cardinal signs: Aries, Libra and Cancer.

Pluto will retrograde back to 22 degrees Capricorn before turning direct again on 4 Oct 2020.

Wow there is so much going on this lunar month!!!

We have 4 planets turning retrograde – Venus, Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto, and the North Node changes signs, signifying a significant shift in our collective spiritual focus.  Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto go retro every year, but now they’re all so close together that it’ll feel like one huge intensified energy blast!  It’s far less common for Venus to go retrograde, so this is an unusual time where we’ll be reconnecting with old friends and lovers – some of whom my come out of the woodwork looking to reconnect!

For those of you into the deeper Astrology of what’s going on right now, I’ve shared some in-depth analyses on my Chirone Shakti-Stargazer Astrology Facebook page, so head over there if you want to find out more!

I’m working exclusively online now, so if you feel in need of guidance in these challenging times, know that I’m here and available for sessions as usual.  Just book online through my website and I’ll be in touch to arrange appointment times – whether Astrology Consultations or Holistic Therapy sessions.

Lastly I have an online workshop coming up, exploring the fascinating Cycles of Venus: all you’ve ever wanted to know about this mysterious dual planet!  Discover whether you’re a Morning Star or Evening Star Venus and what it all means.  Register now!

2TaurusThe New Moon in Taurus on Thurs 23 April is closely configured with Uranus, which brings a flavour of surprise and revelation to this new lunar cycle.  Uranus can bring sudden shocks and is strongly associated with upsetting the status quo.  It can also bring an awakening at the level of mass consciousness.  The best advice we can give to prepare for Uranus energy is “Expect the Unexpected”.

The invitation from this New Moon in Taurus with Uranus is to bring a new awareness to our relationship with Mother Earth and our physical world.  It invites us to make a radical new departure, to begin a new cycle connecting deeply with the land, appreciating the abundance of Nature, acknowledging the sacred beauty of the Earth and embodying this by stepping into our protective role as her guardians.

Uranus - Iceland StormUranus in Taurus has been sparking a mass awakening to how we’ve been destroying the Earth’s pristine environment – think Extinction Rebellion for a start.  The COVID-19 pandemic, ironically, is highlighting how quickly some of this damage can be reversed, when there’s the political imperative to do so – I’m sure you’ve all seen pictures of clear skies over China, the Himalayas visible in some parts of India for the first time in 30 years, wildlife returning to now-quiet parts of the countryside, and rivers running clear again without factory effluent.   For a look at the general implications of Uranus in Taurus, read my blogpost from May 2018.

At a personal level, this New Moon (and this whole lunar month) is an excellent time for some pampering and indulgence!  As an Earth sign, Taurus is patient and grounded, with an appreciation of the finer things in life. Taurus is highly sensuous and has a love of luxury, so feel free to indulge your senses now, as best you can in self-isolation!

Taurus is associated with security in its many forms – emotional, material and financial – and this need for security (or more accurately, the fear of lack of security) can give rise to the sign’s tendency towards possessiveness and material accumulation.  Use the energies of this lunar month to explore your own security needs and your own relationship with abundance.

If your birthday falls close to this New Moon, within a day either side, you are likely to be strongly affected as it marks a year of new beginnings in your life, particularly with regard to your sense of identity and your purpose in life.

The New Moon falls at 3 degrees Taurus.  If you have points in your birth chart close to this degree (within one degree), expect the part of your life associated with that energy (eg relationships for Venus) to begin a significant new cycle.

The New Moon is exact at 12.25pm AEST.  Remember to set your New Moon intentions in the following 24 hrs.
