Supermoon Full Moon in Aquarius  Wed 2 Aug 2023 at 4.31am AEST at 9 Aquarius
 .

Our second Supermoon of this year (of 4) is the Full Moon in Aquarius on Wed 2 Aug.

As always with a Supermoon, the Full Moon appears larger and brighter in the sky than usual, and has a much stronger-than-usual effect on us, heightening emotional dramas, overstretching emergency workers, and bringing higher tides and extreme weather events.

This Supermoon Full Moon in Aquarius highlights the importance of establishing a balance between the needs of the collective and the needs of the individual.

Full Moons often bring situations to a head, so be prepared for collective issues such as those associated with climate change or humanitarian issues such as refugees – to reach some kind of crisis point where resolution becomes imperative.

This Aquarian Full Moon could also bring new and experimental ideas into sharp focus, ideas that are likely to benefit the collective.

The Full Moon falls at 9 degrees of Aquarius and is exact at 4.31am Queensland time (AEST).  The best time for celebration and ceremony will be the previous night while the energy is still building.

Echoes of 8 years ago?

Echoes of 8 years ago?

 .

Just as the Sun lines up opposite Pluto and squares the new Aries-Libra nodal axis, Venus stations turning retrograde.

*

Venus turns retrograde on 23 July at 28 Leo.

Venus signifies our urge to relate to others.  Don’t be surprised if old friends and lovers reappear in your life during the retrograde phase of Venus – you may hear from people you haven’t seen for ages.  Or you may be the one seeking to reconnect.  Venus retrograde often brings an opportunity to revisit past relationships, especially if there is any unfinished business there.

Venus retrograde moves through 8-year cycles, so think back to what was happening for you eight years ago in July 2015 when Venus last went retrograde in Leo, for insight into the themes that might arise for you this time round (or 8 years further back, 2007, 1999 … ).

Venus is retrograde for six weeks until 4 Sept 2023.  If you have Taurus or Libra prominent in your chart (especially as your rising sign), Venus retrograde cycles are likely to have a strong impact on you.

Venus will continue to be visible as the Evening Star for a couple of weeks after she turns retrograde, but will be seen gradually lower in the evening sky until she is no longer visible around 6 Aug as she gets closer and closer to the Sun.

With her retrograde conjunction to the Sun, Venus disappears for two weeks, after which time she emerges transformed as the Morning Star, and a whole new 584-day cycle begins (a cycle sacred to the Mayans).

In ancient times Venus was seen as a dual goddess – the Evening Star was her peaceful aspect, whereas the Morning Star was her warrior incarnation, and the rebirth of the Morning Star was seen as an auspicious time to go into battle.  Venus will reappear as the Morning Star from around 19 Aug.

Collective spiritual alignment shift

Collective spiritual alignment shift

WLEJ

Very soon after the New Moon on 18 July, the Moon’s North node moves from Taurus back into Aries, marking a significant shift in our collective spiritual alignment.  To me this is so obviously tied into the climate emergency, the mass extinction event which is accelerating daily – although there will be plenty of other scenarios where these energies play out too.

For the last eighteen months we have been called to step up and fully embrace our role as guardians of the Earth (North node Taurus), and to move away from the quagmire of powerful vested interests (South node Scorpio).

Aries on FireWith this nodal shift into Aries-Libra, we are now being called to take decisive, affirmative action (North node Aries) whether this is carving out new pioneering paths or taking direct action.  South node in Libra tells us that we need to move away from placating those who stand to lose out or oppose us, yet potentially our strength lies in integrating that Libran South node to generate consensus on a grand scale for the actions that need to be taken, that are becoming increasingly urgent.  Aries always has a sense of urgency – this is not going away and is only likely to escalate in the next eighteen months with the nodes in Aries & Libra.

The new direction of the Aries North node immediately meets resistance from a square to Pluto, an intensification of the power struggles mentioned earlier, as the Sun’s opposition to Pluto becomes exact.  Pluto in the very last degrees of Capricorn represents the death throes of the establishment and all the vested interests and abuses of power that put corporate greed above a liveable planet.

Lots going on this lunar month with Venus turning retrograde on 23 July and another powerful Supermoon Full Moon on 2 Aug.  We’ve also got the Moon’s nodes changing signs into Aries-Libra which brings about a significant shift in our collective spiritual alignment.

*

The New Moon in Cancer on Tues 18 July presents the opportunity for a new cycle to begin in relation to the feminine.  Cancer is ruled by the Moon, symbolising women, mothering and the sacred feminine. It is also closely connected with nurturing and this New Moon can start a new cycle in the way we care for others, the way we nurture ourselves, as well as our relationship with women in general.

Complicating the energy of this New Moon is the tight configuration it forms with Eris and Pluto, indicating the possibility of power struggles and unrest playing out, particularly around themes of rejection and exclusion which can apply to so many sectors of society, such as refugees as just one example. It’s possible there will be some kind of confrontation with the authorities that ignites the unrest (think of the protests in France!).  With a New Moon, the potential is for a new cycle to start in this whole area – let’s hope that with a Cancer Moon, it’s one that brings more compassion into the picture.  This configuration increases in intensity over the following days, as the Moon’s nodes join the pattern (see more below).

Cancer is a water sign, sensitive and emotional, with a strong need for emotional security. This is the sign associated with home and family, so at a personal level this New Moon can mark the beginning of a new sense of belonging, perhaps a new phase in our home and family life, or our sense of belonging to a ‘tribe’.

BottlebrushCancer has a tenacious connection to the past – Cancerians don’t like to let go of anything!  The New Moon in Cancer represents the beginning of a new phase in our relationship with the past, an opportunity to emotionally release whatever no longer serves us.  The Australian Bush Flower Essence Bottlebrush is particularly good for supporting you to let go.

If your birthday falls close to the date of this New Moon, this marks an important year of new beginnings in your life, particularly with regard to your identity, your sense of self and your purpose in life.
If you have a planet close to 24 degrees Cancer (within a degree either side), a new cycle is starting in whatever that planet symbolises (eg relationships for Venus).

Remember to set your intentions for this lunar month within 24 hours of the New Moon.  The New Moon is exact at 4.31am Queensland time (AEST).

The Full Moon in Capricorn on Mon 3 July 2023 highlights the work we do in the world, our ambitions in life and our willingness to take personal responsibility for how our lives unfold.

This Full Moon brings into focus the difference between our public and our private lives, inviting us to find a balance between the two opposing polarities of work and home. The spotlight may be on your career or business life, but it’s important to find that balance with your home life.
