Full Moon in Sagittarius 2023

Full Moon in Sagittarius 2023

The Full Moon falls in Sagittarius on Sun 4 June.  Sagittarius is eternally buoyant and optimistic, driven by the need to find meaning in life, if not THE meaning of life.

The Full Moon in Sagittarius invites us to find a balance between this enthusiastic search for truth and the need to approach an issue rationally, collecting information first rather than acting impulsively.  Sagittarius is famous for leaping into situations, all fired up, ready to fight for a cause or go on a quest, without stopping to check the facts first – and then in its enthusiasm and thirst for adventure, it doesn’t know when (or sometimes even how) to stop and rein in the energy – it’s what gives Sagittarius its OTT reputation, ie being completely Over The Top!  So use the energies of this Full Moon to find that balance in your life.

This Full Moon in Sagittarius may also bring up issues of Trust, whether trust in someone else or trust in yourself – ultimately it all comes down to Trust in the Universe.

Check your birth chart to see what’s under the Full Moon spotlight at 13 Sagittarius.

The Full Moon is exact at 1.41pm Queensland time (AEST), so the best night for ceremony and celebration will be the previous evening while the energy is still building.

We’re finally out of eclipse season with this New Moon – and now that Mercury’s direct again, there’s a sense of moving forwards at long last.  I don’t know about you but I’ve certainly found the past month quite challenging on all technological fronts!

I have a workshop coming up: Secrets of Successful Relationships.  It’s aimed at Beginner/Foundation level,  and explores the astrological secrets of successful relationships – whether that’s with your partner, your kids or even your friends.  You’ll learn how to understand your loved ones better through Astrology.  You’ll also get to explore your own chart and how this works for you.  People often tell me this workshop has really opened their eyes and transformed their relationships!!  Click on this link for more info and to register.

For Advanced level students, registration is now open for Term 3’s classes:  Advanced Forecasting (Advanced 2) and Harmonics (Advanced 6).  These classes are live online – and yes they’re recorded if the time doesn’t suit you! There’s an early bird available now – click on the links for more info and to register.

.

The energies at the start of this lunar month are likely to be especially turbulent, with Mars, Jupiter and Pluto involved in a challenging T-square configuration between 17-24 May.  On top of that,  just before moving into Taurus on 17 May, Jupiter activated the degree of last month’s hybrid solar eclipse at 29 Aries, giving a huge boost of energy to anything that began at that eclipsed New Moon.  Think back to the New Moon intentions you set then and review their progress.  (Click on the links for more info on those)

This potent Jupiter-Pluto combination could mean tussles between the justice system and entrenched power – whether that’s the government or other shady power players. With Mars in the picture things could get volatile, possibly even violent.  The aspect certainly indicates fighting against the powers-that-be, or at least taking action in some way, such as protesting on the streets.

One image that comes to mind for me for this astrological combination is the possibility of legislation against gun violence – we’re seeing protesters demanding it on the streets of Belgrade in Serbia after two mass shootings there last week.  And it’s way overdue in the US, where guns are now the leading cause of death for young people, but the NRA and other entrenched power-players still hold plenty of sway in government decisions. It’s possible that Jupiter could now shift the energy in favour of the justice system.

In the midst of all this, we have a New Moon in Taurus on Sat 20 May.  The New Moon in Taurus represents an opportunity to begin a new cycle in our relationship with the physical world and with Mother Nature, a reminder of the extinction crisis underway, that the media (and governments) seem determined to ignore.

This is more urgent now than ever.  Uranus has been moving through Taurus for the last 5 years, waking up more and more people to the reality of the extinction crisis.  One of the potential outcomes for Jupiter now in Taurus is that legislation could be implemented to protect the planet and the fragile ecology of the environment.  This New Moon in Taurus extends an invitation for us to begin a new cycle in our relationship with the Earth and to act as her guardians.

Taurus is associated with security in its many forms – emotional, material and financial – and this need for security (or more accurately, the fear of lack of security) can give rise to the sign’s tendency towards possessiveness and material accumulation.  Use this lunar month to explore your own security needs and your relationship with abundance.  We may even see significant changes in the financial world – again Jupiter may well bring that in.  It’s an opportunity for us to begin a new cycle in our finances!

At a personal level, this New Moon is an excellent time for enjoying luxury and pampering our physical bodies, indulging in sensuous pleasure.  Taurus does love luxury!

If your birthday is close to this date, this New Moon marks the beginning of a significant new cycle in your life in relation to your identity, your sense of self and your purpose in the world.

If you have chart points at 28 Taurus, this New Moon signifies the start of a new cycle in whatever that planet represents (eg responsibility for Saturn).

The New Moon is exact at 1.53am Queensland time (AEST).  Remember to set your New Moon intentions in the following 24 hrs.

Jupiter moves into Taurus

Jupiter  moves into Taurus

Jupiter canstockphoto

Jupiter moves into Taurus on 17 May and immediately meets a challenging contact to retrograde Pluto at zero degrees Taurus/Aquarius.  This could mean tussles between the justice system and entrenched power – whether that’s the government or other shady power players.

Not only that but just before Jupiter moves into Taurus, it activates the degree of last month’s hybrid Solar Eclipse at 29 degrees Aries.  Whatever was started at that eclipsed New Moon now gets a huge boost of energy – and this will play into any power struggles that arise as Jupiter moves into Taurus and makes that challenging square to Pluto.

We can expect (and maybe hope!) that Jupiter in Taurus will bring changes to the law regarding all kinds of things associated with Taurus – which could range from farming, land care and crops to finance and banking industries.

The principle of Jupiter is to bring more justice into the system.  Interesting in this respect that a lot of talk is happening around restorative justice, for example issues of reparations to descendants of former slaves, a topic that has raised its head again following a 2-year investigation by the Guardian into who and which organisations benefitted from slavery in the 18 & 19 centuries, especially in the time after Britain had formally abolished slavery.  This investigation was carried out while Pluto was in the last degrees of Capricorn – representing the dying embers of the entrenched power of the establishment.

There’s also the possibility that Jupiter in Taurus, along with Pluto in egalitarian Aquarius, could bring debt relief to developing countries who have struggled for so long under the punitive conditions imposed by western aid.

Watch the period between 17-24 May for potentially volatile developments on these themes as Mars enters the picture and forms a tense T-square with Jupiter and Pluto.

Lunar Eclipse Full Moon in Scorpio 2023

Lunar Eclipse Full Moon in Scorpio 2023

 penumbral lunar eclipse

The Full Moon in Scorpio on Sat 6 May AEST (5 May in Europe and the Americas) is a penumbral Lunar Eclipse, heightening the emotions that come with this Scorpio Full Moon.  A penumbral lunar eclipse is one where the Full Moon darkens as it moves into the half-shadow of the Earth.

Even normally, the Full Moon in Scorpio is a highly emotional time.  When it coincides with a lunar eclipse, the potential is hugely intensified.  Typically this is a time when deep and passionate feelings are likely to be revealed, and there’s a strong possibility of secret or intensely private matters coming to light, often with a sexual or financial content (or even both!).

With Uranus strongly configured with this lunar eclipse, we can expect surprises (maybe shocks) and disruptions too.

It’s extraordinary how the British royal family plans events around eclipses (again & again!) – the days of court astrologers are obviously long gone!  Charles’ coronation is set for Sat 6 May in London, where the lunar eclipse falls the previous evening.  I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s unrest and disruption with all the various astrological influences at play.

The eclipsed Full Moon is at 14 degrees Scorpio and is exact at 3.34am AEST (Queensland time), so the best time for Full Moon celebrations will be the previous evening.

Find where this degree falls in your birth chart to see which part of your life is under the spotlight and where changes may be afoot.

Pluto turns retro 2023

pluto symbol

Pluto turns retrograde

After so recently moving into Aquarius, Pluto slows to a halt on 2 May still at zero degrees Aquarius, ready to begin his retrograde journey back to Capricorn.

If anything in your life has been going through symbolic death throes in the last six months, this is a time when you are likely to revisit the whole process, perhaps at an even deeper level as you search for the hidden truths and the soul essence of who you are, the alchemist’s gold that can eventually emerge from the blackness.

Anyone whose birthday falls around 20-21 Jan is likely to be experiencing a very intense time while personal transformation goes on at a deep core level – the eventual outcome is empowerment, the ability to stand comfortably in your own power, but it’s a long drawn-out process which won’t be complete until the end of 2024.

This will also be true for anyone with personal planets at this degree, or at zero degrees of the other fixed signs: Taurus, Leo and Scorpio, as you’re also likely to be feeling the challenge of Pluto.

Pluto will retrograde back to 27 degrees Capricorn before turning direct again on 11 Oct 2023.

Mercury goes retro – April 2023

Mercury goes retrograde

mercury_retroSIGN

The day after the solar eclipse, on Fri 21 April  Mercury goes retrograde for 3 weeks.  Make sure you finish up projects and back up all your files at least a week before then!!! Mercury retro brings the potential for confusion, mistakes and delays.

Double-check appointments and flight times, make sure you have your keys with you when you leave the house, and check that messages have actually got through OK.

Be prepared to be patient when things don’t go according to plan!  Take a book with you to the airport and be prepared for delays.

This is not a good time to make any major purchases or sign contracts, unless you’re prepared to revise your plans – or take purchases back to the shop – down the track.  If you can’t get out of signing a contract, make sure you read the fine print very, very carefully

The upside of Mercury retrograde is that it’s a great time to sort out your files and reorganize so you can be more streamlined.

Mercury is retro until 15 May 2023.

 .

The New Moon on Thurs 20 April (AEST) is not only a hybrid solar eclipse, but also the second New Moon in Aries, falling at 29 degrees of that sign (last month’s New Moon was at zero degrees Aries).  If this were a Full Moon, we’d call it a Blue Moon, but here it’s a New Moon and an eclipsed one at that, which really ramps up the energy.  This solar eclipse is the first of the Aries-Libra eclipses that will be happening over the next couple of years.A hybrid solar eclipse is one which moves between being an annular eclipse and a total eclipse – both are forms of a total solar eclipse.  An annular eclipse is one where the Sun is not completely blacked out by the Moon but shows a ring of fire around the eclipse (annular from the Latin word for a ring).  The eclipse will be visible in Exmouth WA in the north-west part of Australia as a total solar eclipse – everywhere else in Australia will see it as a partial eclipse, getting less the further away you are from WA.   Here’s a great link from the ABC – with cool animations!

A total solar eclipse is an intensified form of a New Moon, and here we have the second New Moon in Aries, repeating the themes of last month but now far more intensified, as if the Universe really wants to make sure that we get the message!

This eclipsed New Moon in Aries brings a second opportunity for a bold and exciting new start.  Aries’ natural approach to life is to take action, breaking new ground in a pioneering or even crusading venture, or taking up a cause that’s worth fighting for.

As a Fire sign, Aries is full of enthusiasm and focused on the future.  Aries tends to act first and think later, hence its reputation for being impulsive, so take a moment to weigh your options before jumping in feet first!

Remember that eclipses bring change into our lives, often from left field, so be extra careful throughout this lunar month as we are in eclipse season the whole time.

If your birthday falls close to this date (within a day either side), this is the beginning of a highly significant new cycle in your life, particularly with regard to your sense of identity and purpose in life.

Wherever you have 29 degrees Aries in your chart, this is the area of your life that will be most affected by this eclipsed New Moon – for example, if it falls in your 10th house, this signifies the beginning of a significant new cycle in your career or professional life.

The New Moon is exact at 2.12pm AEST (for the Virgos among you, the eclipse is exact at 2.17pm AEST).  Your New Moon resolutions will be especially powerful with the effect of this eclipse.  Remember to set them in the following 24 hrs.

Full Moon in Libra 2023

Full Moon in Libra 2023

The Full Moon falls in Libra on Thurs 6 April.  The Full Moon in Libra gives us an opportunity to bring our lives into balance, revisiting the cosmic invitation extended by the Equinox  two weeks earlier.  It highlights our need to relate to others, yet it also emphasizes the need to find a balance between our own needs and the needs of another, between the need for independence and the need for compromise.

This Full Moon marks the beginning of the eclipse season as it starts the two-week lead-up to the eclipses.. Energies will intensify as we move towards the next New Moon (solar eclipse) and the following Full Moon (lunar eclipse).  Remember to be especially careful in your day-to-day life during the eclipse season.

The Full Moon falls at 16 degrees Libra Check the houses of your chart to see which part of your life is under the spotlight. The Full Moon is exact at 2.34pm Queensland time (AEST) on Thurs 6 April.  If you’re planning a Full Moon ceremony, the best time will be the previous evening while the energies are still building.

*

Easter Sunday this year falls on Sun 9 April.  ‘What’s this got to do with Astrology?’ I hear you ask … Well, guess what?  The date of Easter is determined astrologically, by the Moon and the Equinox.  Easter Sunday is set as the first Sunday after the first Full Moon following the Equinox.  This is why the date of Easter changes each year, sometimes falling at the end of March and sometimes much later in April.  Astrology is present in our everyday lives much more than most people realize!
Have a wonderful Easter break!
